Never flying again

Since its 26 hours each way for me to drive I can say I most likely will never drive to WDW.

I can't afford to drive...not because of $, but because of time. If we drove we would only have 2 days at Disney...and 4 days of driving isn't worth 2 days of vacation...even Disney! :)

I don't love flying, but I am always so happy when I arrive in Orlando refreshed and calm after a quick 2 hour flight. I know that I wouldn't feel the same after a 2-day drive. :headache:

I don't like taking the buses at WDW either, so we rent a car. :) We love having the freedom to go when we want to. The only park we won't drive to is the Magic Kingdom, so we usually stay at one of the MK resorts so we're close.

We used to drive to WDW from Long Island when our boys were little. It would take us 18 hours or so straight through with both my husband and I driving. I never minded the drive down but, by the time we hit the Jersey Turnpike on the way home I was usually ready to throw myself from the car!!

We started flying when my daughter was born. I am not a fan of flying by any means but, I do it. 2.5 hours vs. 18 is a no brainer for me!!

We drive a Suburban so, gas would be a killer to drive. We just got two tickets round trip for my husband and I to go down next week. It was $398. I filled up my truck last week before gas went up again. It was $120. So, it would not be cheaper for us to fly right now. Not that I would anyway!;)

It's about 2,000 miles from home to WDW, give or take a hundred miles or so. Apart from the fact that I don't do road trips (similar experiences to PP with childhood road trips), I wouldn't have enough vacation time to accommodate the driving and time at WDW!

It's flying or not at all! :)

I hate to fly. Did it many years ago, and got very sick on the flight out and then again coming back. I can't keep anything down (those little bags just aren't big enough!) and I get a pounding headache that won't quit. Just not an option for me to fly right now. I found a happy medium by taking the Amtrak AutoTrain to Florida - it's definitely more money than flying, but it's safer for me (since I would be a solo driver driving 19 hours on I95), and I can take my car. I just love to read a good book and relax and let Amtrak do the driving! :)

Funny thing is, with gas prices and a hotel, the AutoTrain in coach is very close in price to driving! Really doesn't save me much money to drive at the moment, as a solo driver! Makes the decision even easier. :)
