Never Ever Going To WDW Again

I'm so glad the GK's were able to SLEEP-IN during their summer vacation with you! Although we are NOT used to humidity...we have ALWAYS visited Florida/WDW during the summer months. We are there for such an extended period of time (two months or more), we usually are never bothered by the extreme temps. We too, sleep~in each am, and then venture to the parks in the late~cooler afternoon. We take in E-Ride nights, and enjoy the fast passes too.

The humidity makes my long hair FULL & LUSTROUS...and my SKIN GLOW with moisture! No wonder Southern women age gracefully...they LIVE in a Natural Sauna!! :teeth: I LOVE the late night hours (of the parks), and the endless days (not dark until 9:30), the blazing "sailor's delight" sunsets...lots of families with kids on summer vacation....and just about everything else synonymous with SUMMER!!!::yes::

:sunny: I would never trade this time of year for anything...I just enjoy it too much. Summertime vacations...are such a part of AMERICANA.

I hope you enjoy your upcoming trip!! Thanks for a FUN thread. ;)

Love this thread! I hope everyone reads it and decides not to go in August ! We had a great time this year (Aug 21-27), even with the heat. The crowds were SOOOOOOO much better than Feb vacation week. See you fellow masochists next year!;)

This past August was our last August at WDW! (I think I said the same thing in 2003! :p )

The heat is just too much for me and DH, the boys (ages 13 and 14) didn't seem to mind at all, we never heard one complaint from them in regards to the heat and humidity!

My favorite time of year is the last week in January/first week of February! I prefer walking around WDW in a sweatshirt, as opposed to nearly nothing at all, and still being uncomfortable!

No more summers at WDW for us!

We're going to try Thanksgiving 2005 and see how that goes!:hyper:

That's funny!:p Because I was thinking the very same thing about all the people on this thread that said they love summer. KEEP GOING IN THE SUMMER...... that way there will be room for us in October and December.......our favorite times to go. :teeth:

While I do agree July and August are pretty hot and humid we like going in August as we feel the crowds are smaller than in July.

I think perhaps we would choose October if school wasn't an issue. I guess we will have to stay with August for now.

Hope you have more fun in December with your sisters.

My mother and I went in July of 2000. It was h otter than the 9th circle of Hades. :sunny: We had a lot of fun, but I'd never do summer at WDW again unless there were no other options. We too survived by going to the parks 1st thing, then taking a break at the hotel until after dinner and going back to the parks in the cooler evening time. :sunny:

We visited WDW middle of last May. Arrived in Orlando by plane around 8 pm then checked into POP Century that evening. The next morning I woke up around 7 and started to leave the room around 7:30. Living in the mountains of NC in May it can still be sort of cool early in the morning. So as I was standing at the door getting ready to open it I thought to myself "I wonder if I need a jacket or a sweatshirt?" I opened the door and immediately felt the heat and humidity. I said to my wife no doubt about it we really are in Florida.

For all you miserable people that complain about the Disney heat and humidity in the summer, I thank you for not going again in the summer. That way the parks will be less crowded for me! ::MickeyMo

My wife and I go all the time the first week or two of December. We have noticed an increase in the number of people who are doing the same. Soon it won't be any less crowded than other times. So STAY away during December

Just kidding. Come join the fun. I guess it would take allot to change that time of year from value season.

We went to WDW in August and we went last October. We actually were able to enjoy the pool at our hotel since it was so hot and I needed a break from the parks during our August trip, this thrilled my DS. In october we went to the parks all day until we got tired and by the time we got back to our hotel and had dinner it was too cool to swim many of the nights plus the parks were waaaaaayyyyyy more crowded than I expected. I enjoyed August because it seemed like less crowds than in October and we got to swim alot and have drinks by the poly pool with tiki music playing-very refreshing. I enjoyed october for the halloween decorations, cooler weather and the food and wine festival-yummy. We are planning another trip this November and then the following August to try to enjoy the best of both worlds. :hyper: :hyper:

I won't do it again in summer either. YUCK! We went in Late June. I figured with a strategy it would be bareable. LOL! NO WAY> I'll stick with OCT/NOV.

I very much agree. We went last year in July and I got half sick 2 of the 5 days we were there due to the heat. Our next trip is coming up in January, I can deal with some cool weather alot better than the heat.:earsboy:

I totally agree with all of you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. We went late June this year and I hated it! I coudn't wait to come home. I thought I would never go back to WDW again. But, after remembering all the fabulous times we have had off season, we are now going back on November 3rd. I'm so excited about WDW again!

We are late October people. We've had beautiful weather and lite crowds. It gets dark early in the evening, and night-time is the best time in MK. After this year, I think our next trip will be early December 2006. We love the MNSSHP and want to try MVMCP next trip. Our schools have always been very good about us taking the kids out of school--we're very lucky there.

Back in the day, when the 2ds would come along we always did summer trips. Since they have decided they are far to cool to be seen with the old folks we have gone in September. It is still fairly warm but I don't want to be in Florida when it's 50 degrees outside. They rates are great and the parks are empty. We have never hit real bad weather, even this year when we got down after Frances.

being from NY and a Disney fan since '76, you can keep your summer months. When I was a kid my folks took us out of school every May for our annual family trip. When I got older and would go with friends this eventually got to crowed for me. Made my first trip with my now DH in June '91, swore I would never go in June, too crowed for him. We then tried July with my sister and her 4 kids, this was the vacation from Hell. ( yes....even in WDW). Honeymooned beginning of September '94.... hurray finally found a month with just the right crowds... hated the bugs, but could deal with them. Then my folks deciede to purchase a Timeshare (off-property)for all the grandkids, my sister refuses to take her kids out of school so we tried August. This trip was a disaster. Hot....Crowed.... and Off-Property..... NEVER AGAIN. Next trip September 11:( , (tough with a 2 year old). Most recent trip end of September '03...(DS birthday) this was great. No lines, No bugs, great weather. So as long as the crowds are minimal and weather doesn't make you feel like you are in an oven, my very crazy DisneyFamily will continue our annual trip.

:)

Although we have never been in Orlando during the summer months, we have experienced summers in South Carolina and Virginia, thanks to the military. It's absolutly miserable in those places during the summer, so I can imagine how miserable Orlando can be during the summer months (not just heat, but the crowds must be horrible, also).

We always go to WDW in October. Weather is just beautiful and the crowds don't seem to be bad either. Enjoy your next trip. :wave2:

We were there in August as well. I don't know if we're a weird family or what, but we didn't think the heat or humidity was that bad. I kept hearing stories about how miserable we would be, so I bought Misty Mates for all of us. We were fine, and sans hurricanes, I would definitely go back in the summer, we loved it!

To be honest, I have tried going in July, wanted to do the 4th one time and I would rather slam my hand in a truck door then go during the summer time, the heat, the bugs and I have seen people go nuts during that time, rude, pushy... you folks know what I'm talking about... the heat!!!

Sorry but summer is just not someting I would subject myself to again....(UNLESS IT WAS FREE!! THAT IS...LOL)
