Never have done Disney Dining and now that they offer ticketless packages, we just may. Could Mom and I still share a meal if we wish or no?

Down below figment shared

I've been able to share at most TS locations without any issues. VN, as you mentioned, does not allow this. Any item that says "for two" will require both of you to use credits to order it (i.e., you can't pay for half of it using cash and the other half using a credit).

As normal, you cannot share at buffets (e.g., Chef Mickey), all-you-care-to-eat restaurants (e.g., 'Ohana), fixed priced meals (e.g., CRT), dinnner shows (e.g., HDDR), or dining packages (e.g., Fantasmic! dining package).

We've shared many times with the DP and without at a large portion of the restaurants. As noted, buffet's or all you can eat's are not possible. We've shared at almost all signature's. We've never had a hesitancy or felt uncomfortable at WDW sharing. We generally tip accordingly with a higher % having shared. It's been mentioned that Via Napoli is an issue though I have no experience there since they changed to the current restaurant's. Sharing between 2 people on the DP should be an easy one with those caveat's in mind. Sharing between someone who's not on the DP and someone who is would be an unknown. It's not against the published rules as I read them but one could interpret it as against the spirit of the rules.

it's been interpreted as being against the rules if the DDP guest shares a meal with the non-DDP guest and that provides an entire meal for the non-DDP guest. Because the rules state that dining credits must not be used to provide meals for persons who are not on the DDP. But sharing a few bites of your entree or dessert is not prohibited.

Interpreted by whom? The rules, found only as a FAQ, states "You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on your XX DP". Other than VN, which is not a Disney restaurant, has anyone had issues other places? I realize it's their rule and it's stated it could change without notice. However, the fact it's their rule (or in this case possible interpretation of a rule that might quasi apply) allows them to elect to go one way or another. Personally I could argue it both ways but I do no believe one can honestly argue it as clearly against the current rules if sharing between someone on the DP and someone not nor do I believe one can argue that the restaurants interpretation has been clearly in that direction.

We're finishing up a week at WDW. We shared so far 10 of 10 times with no hesitation from any of the service staff. Four of them were signatures.

Thank you for all this info! If we use 1 credit to get an app, entree, and dessert, can I pay OOP for 1 entree? Therefore we will split the appetizer and dessert but each have our own meal? Can we do this? Would anyone frown upon this?

Via Napoli will require your party to each spend a dining credit. Otherwise, most likely yes, so long as you specify when you are ordering which meal will be paid for with DDP and which meal will be paid for by other means.

You can pay oop for anything you like... another entrée, another beverage, etc. Assuming of course you are both on the same dining plan.

If you are talking about Deluxe DDP (DxDDP) as I assume you must be from mentioning appetizers being included in a meal credit, you may wish to plan on using an actual credit card or a gift card (or cash) to pay for the oop portion - to avoid having them take two credits off of your meal plan as might happen if using room charge on your magic band.

So ate at Artist Point, Le Cellier, San Angel, Sci Fi, Narcoossee's, Liberty Tree, Splitsville, Olivia's all sharing both meals and credits. In addition ate at Flying Fish, Yachtsman, Citrico's, Y & Y where we shared a meal between 2 adults for all but FF fish where we had extra DDP credits but shared with my grandson. Never any hesitation or discussion on any request for sharing and no tone or body language that suggested an issue either. The other thing I found interesting is that at most of the locations we had minor additional charges like an extra drink, kids (drink, fruit, soup, dessert), etc and in most instances we were not charged extra and they rolled the additional charges into the DP. I questioned it on a couple of occasions and was told not to worry about it and on another, the waiter simply mentioned the DP picked it up. I realize we were not looking at big ticket items and the additional work doing 2 checks may not have been worth it. I still paid tip on the total and was charged at 18% when we had 6 or more and I added extra at most locations as appropriate to specifics as I generally do when we share.

We only had one issue in this area and it was caught and corrected at the location with minimal hassle. It wasn't related to the method of payment but the DP itself and a miscalculation by the server. Payment method would not have avoided that issue I do not believe. However, one does need to be diligent.
