Just seen a list of never built attractions for DLRP

Ariel's Undersea Voyage - A Little Mermaid-themed dark ride.

Jungle Exploration - A jeep ride designed for the park, similar to Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Guests would travel through a jungle covered by a glass roof and drive past giraffes, ride on a rickety bridge over hippos, and into an ancient temple where guests would encounter the "I Wanna Be Like You," scene from the Jungle Book complete with audio animatronic monkeys, Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, and King Louie, dancing to the song. The jeeps would then be sent into a tropical storm where they would be chased by a large tiger. But luckily for the guests, the jeeps would find a safe way back to civilization.

Beauty and the Beast - A Tiki Room style attraction planned for Disneyland Paris.

Discovery Mountain - A huge complex designed to be the Disneyland Paris version of Space Mountain, containing the Space Mountain roller coaster, a tower launch ride, a Nautilus walk-through attraction (later moved to outside the complex) and an undersea restaurant.

Indiana Jones Adventure - A large space has been reserved for an attraction of the same size. Unknown if it may become reality, or is even for that attraction all together.

Jungle Exploration sounds really cool but the others, I could take or leave tbh.

The Little Mermaid one would have been lovely. There is a virtual ride of what it would have been on The Little Mermaid DVD. It's such a shame it was never built. :sad2:

i saw that as well it looked really good!! I would love to work as a park imagineer shame i can't draw or design anything to save my life :rotfl:

The area planned for the Little Mermaid attraction is still there unused, so who knows maybe we'll get it one day, the TOT we've got was originally designed for Paris then shelved, built elsewhere and now finally we have it, maybe LM will be the same, it would be a great addition to Fantasyland. :thumbsup2

I personally feel that Fantasyland has enough rides. I think more attractions are needed in Frontierland and Adventureland, and I think a lot of Discoveryland needs a bit of an overhaul.....

I love the idea of the underwater restaurant.... That would be awesome!

I think the following rides could be scrapped to be honest:

1) Nautilus - let's face it, it's not that exciting.
2) Orbitron - again, it's nothing special.

The following rides could do with a major scenery/theming overhaul:

1) Autopia - if it's meant to be in a city, maybe some buildings would be a lovely idea? At the moment, there's a few traffic lights and some trees.

2) Storybook Canal Boats - The little scenes are a bit disappointing to be honest. They're very small, and you don't feel involved with them. They're always too far from the boat to really see much of.

3) Alice's Curious Labyrinth - there's a post somewhere with a link to a blog about this attraction. It's in a horrendous state.

Discoveryland needs a major overhaul in general like the previous poster said. I think more of it could be underground/indoors. I think a roof should be made from Space Mountain across to Star Tours and the station. There's a distinct lack of places to go/queue when the sun is too hot or when it's raining. An indoor, air conditioned half a land would be very popular in summer/winter I think.

Discoverland just doesn't feel futuristic anymore.

I agree with most of the above. I actually think Alice's Curious Labyrinth is a really good attraction when all the elements are working in it and the paintwork and hedges are kept looking fresh. It's a shame they are letting the is attraction get into such a state.

As for Discoveryland looking futaristic, it isn't meant to be, Disney learned that mistake from Tomorrowland at WDW and Disneyland. In these parks they have trouble keeping the lands futeristic which is why they decided to build Discoveryland as a homage to the great discoverers of the past. But I agree that it could do with a major overhaul.

Regarding the Canal Boats, maybe it is the location of them that is the problem. At Disneyland the same ride is extremily popular and always has large queues (30 - 50 minute during the summer months).

As for the Little Mermaid dark ride they are building one as part of the major redesign of Disney's Californian Adventure, it should be interesting to see what that turns out like.

Probably the wrong word I used in futuristic.

Discovery is all about new dawns and I think it should still look clean and metallic and different to the rest of the park.

You know - I think the paving could do a lot to enhance each land instead of plain gray concrete everywhere.

I love Disneyland Paris to bits, and I don't ever envisage visiting any of the other parks, but I think little touches could make it so so much better.

Actually I disagree about the paving. I think there is actually a lot of detailing in the pavement of the lands if you look for it. In Fronteirland for example the cart track and horses hooves marks, in Adventureland the animal paw prints (I thought this was a cool detail so I took a picture of it last trip.)

The paving in Fantesyland, although the same redish colour is smoother in contrast to the more stone embeded concrete of Adventureland and Fronteirland. Then the red and grey bricked road in Main Street (a detail not included in WDW and Disnyland) against the grey pavement also adds to the detailing of the park.

The only reason I mention all of this is because when we took a guied tour on our last trip our guide Christophe was very careful to point out how the paving details changed subtally from land to land.

I love Disneyland Paris, but I also enjoy the other Disney Parks. I agree though that it is the little touches that make the parks better than any other theme park.

DD and I think they should revamp the teacups ride and make it a Beauty and The Beast theme (Mrs Potts, chip, etc), as there are no B & TB rides which upsets DD. Besides, Alice has her Labyrinth :ccat:

That's a good idea but I love the theme as it is. It looks beautiful especially at night. I'd have loved to see the Beauty and the Beast 'tiki room' style attraction. It could have been great.

Of all the things that didn't get built, Discovery Mountain would have been my favourite. The imaganeers liked it so much that they even left little clues about it in Discoveryland. If you look, you'll find the initials DM on the side of trash cans and above some signs.

You can find more info on Discovery Mountain here: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2007/04/disneyland-paris-discoveryland-project.html

There is still a strong chance that we could see the Little Mermaid in Paris. If it goes down well in California, it could be put into fantasyland next to IASW. Now that the ride is fully designed (although for another park) it's cheaper and easier to install it in another park.

The DM initials on the trash cans and signs were also a tribute to the fact that they were going to call Space Mountain Discovery Mountain until just before the ride was finished. They figured that visitors would be more familiar with the name Space Mountain due to the Space Mountains in the other Disney parks.
