Never been to Universal, what are the tricks?

DAYZ3BYZ- There is a small storage compartment on the back of the seat your camera should fit in if it is not a large one. The compartment can fit about 2 pairs of sun glasses if that helps.

I actually have a question about those compartments in the FJ seats....

Actually, my niece asked me.

Are these compartments padded in any sort of way? I mean, she is getting a new camera (old one broke when she dropped it :headache: ) and she is afraid of it 'banging' around in the compartment and getting scratched/damaged.

I know it's small, so that will minimize the rattling around, but she got me thinking to ask if glasses or her camera would bang around and get scratched?

Will your camera fit in a fanny pack? I was able to wear my fanny pack without any trouble on FJ.

There are "test seats" just outside the entrance to the ride so you can see if you will fit or if you want to ride. You can test things out, but I don't know if they exactly match the real ride seats.

Dragon Challenge has test seats as well.

Hopefully we will get into Olivander's early. We will let you know what else we can figure out.

She told my mother... "I don't DO fanny packs" :snooty:

(she's almost 18...not surprising....)

Just this morning, now I'm wondering if the test seats out front have that compartment in them :scratchin

If the compartment is only large enough for sunglasses, I don't think my camera would fit. :sad2:It's a Nikon D-40. Not sure what to do since pics are pretty important to me. I'd wear a fanny pack if the camera would fit. Might need a pretty large one. :rotfl: Not sure what to do. Thanks for the info.

Would she use one of those cinch type backpacks? The small ones that are usually give aways or pretty cheap in the parks? I don't know the rules but I wonder if she could swing it around and wear it on her front and put her camera in that and then put it on her back once she is off the ride. Not sure if that is allowed though and if not, sorry.

It's okay ;) I'm not worried.

I'll probably put my camera in my pocket and hers in my other pocket (if she's worried about it). That's what I told her we'd do.

We'll check it out when we're there.

This is the type of thing that puts ME on a mission. Since I want to know, I am sure to try and get pic of that compartment now

At the cart just outside the exit to Jurassic Park, they were serving Butterbeer this morning. Cash only, and they went back behind the door to get it, but it saved waiting in line for at least 30 minutes.

They refilled our mugs at the refill price. Or, you can order small or large sizes, both frozen and cold.

The line for the bar isn't too bad once it opens, and you can get Butterbeer in 3 Broomsticks, but both don't open until 10:30 or 11.

I hope not - we have breakfast booked much earlier than 10-30;)

without starting a war--the number one trick is to enjoy yourself

Do not compare to "other" theme parks. :goodvibes Just have fun.

Thank you minniejack. I felt terrible when someone else's thread got shut down after I made a similar comment, but you have spoken the truth. It bothers me when people get unpleasant over who has the better theme parks because the whole point of coming to disboards.com is to help each other have a good time on during our trips. Thank you for this important reminder.

I am not even a Harry Potter fan, but I think that I would be entertained by this attraction because it sounds like it tells a little story. I love rides which do that. Congratulations to Universal Studios on what I am sure is going to be a winner.

That's good news because I'm almost as excited about the butterbeer as the ride. It will be great not to wait in a long line.

As for the Nikon D-40...I own one of those too. There's no way in hell I'd take that on the ride with me. If you take the lens off the body, I'm not sure the pieces would fit. It fit my point and shoot camera plus my phone easily. Could've gotten at least 1 more phone in there easily.

My advice: Ride FJ in single riders line and then go to the regular queue with the D-40 and take pics, then don't ride the ride. Or do those in reverse order. Single rider line goes by extremely quickly.
