Never again will we use dining plan

The counter services are nice but It just does not give that Disney feel. We did the normal DP last year, and the QS meals did not offer that many varety,at least to me. Also when we do TS me and me and my DS can have a chance to talk, touch base on what we have done and going to do. The QS i feel we are just eatting and going,no real down time. Now If we are on a tight schedule,ya i can see but we are just going on how we frrl. The only real schedule, is the parks we do that day and the ADR;s we have.

We did DxDP last trip and it was way to much food. So, this trip we are doing the basic. Like a few others have already stated I like it because a) I don't have to worry about looking at prices when I open up the menu b) the meal is already prepaid and I don't have to shutter pulling out my debit card c) I like being able to do one TS each day and not having to worry about finding a place to eat dinner. I just go about my day and when it gets close to my ADR time we head that direction.

I will not do DxDP not onlly because it was to much food but way to many ADRs to worry about. I found us canceling most of our breakfast ADRs because we just weren't in the mood for breakfast. So, this trip I only did ADRs for dinner and we'll do CS for lunch. I feel this will work out a lot better then the last trip.

I totally agree with this! We've had 2 previous trips, both where Basic DDP with club level.....perfect balance for us. We always had a place to eat a quick, smallish breakfast, then a quick lunch and a sit down dinner.

I hummed and hawed about trying the DlX version this trip, but when all is said and done, I stuck with Club Level/Basic DDP because buying the occasional appetizer, or bottle of water, and paying out of pocket for my arrival dinner and departure breakfast, I will still pay less than the cost to upgrade to DLX dining. I don't always have the dessert at every meal, and if I only want a bite or 2, that's fine too.....I like not worrying about paying cash for my meal, and I still think when I see those bills, DDP comes out way ahead! I get a sticker shock every time I see what we "would have paid" if we'd paid cash!!!
Love the DDP :goodvibes

Just did a break down of the DxDP for me and my DS. For me and him for 9 days it looks like it came to 1,264. So I went through the places we plan to eat at, then went through the menues and got a idea of what we might eat. Before tips, and estemated tax the totatl came to about 1,075 with the mugs. Then I took away the signature and replace them with other restraunts and it came out even lower about 975 with mugs. I posted this on a another borad and still i feel bad,i was really looking forward to DxDP. The thought of not worring about menue prices was so nice:sad1:

We're doing the DDP because we have 2 signature dinners reserved (Luau and CRT), so that is why we went with that, rather than the QSP.

So sorry you have come to the conclusion that the DxDP is not for you and your DS. I did the same as you with estimateing the cost for B/L/D at the places we plan to eat this trip and also factored in the cost of 2 refils a day with the mug and the 2 snacks a day which right now we plan on using when we go to F & W Fest. DH and I can easily spend $75-$100 each per day so $78.99 seems like a bargain.

The DxDP is costing DH and myself for 7 nights $1105.86 my estimated meal/mug/snack cost came to $1470 we may do one or two CS not sure but that will not effect the overall amount much. We have always paid OOP and since we enjoy a TS Breakfast, plus Lunch and Dinner and have most of our meals planned for the Epcot area and staying at the Beach Club the DxDP is perfect for the two of us.
We are very much looking forward to not having to look at the prices on the menus this trip.

""SjS314"" help me!,what I am I doing wrong? I should be well ahead. Now I did not take In desserts!,if we where paying out of pocket we would not add this In and i did not add the second apptizer. I wonder if this Is where my cost diffrence is comeing from. Did you take in the cost of desserts? or apptizers?.
here is my plan
Wed: B-Kona cafe, L-Yak and yeti, D-Hoop de do
Thur: golf morining, L Pecos bill, D- CP
Friday: golf morining, L 9 draggons, D- ESPN
Sat: B-CP, L-Wispering pines, D-Cali grill and Planet hollywood
Sun: golf morining, L-San Angel, D-Big horn Brewery
Mon: B- Donalds breakfast, Rose and crown & 9 draggons D- O'hanns
Tue: golf morining, L-wolfgang (TS), D- La cellar
Wed B- Chef Mickeys
So on Thur and Sun those days I am looking playing 36 holes so lunch is going to be real late and dinner the same

We did go with Dining plan our last trip. I have been struggling with whether or not I should upgrade to Deluxe dining for our upcoming trip. We are staying Club level so I think we will try to take advantage of those offerings rather than upgrade to Deluxe di ning. I just don't want to feel like I have to go back to the hotel to take advantage of club level offerings. For us the din ing plan was great but we did pay OOP for some items so I think it would have been worth deluxe.
