Never again T-Giving week...and my camera is MIA :(

The week right before Thanksgiving was great and empty. Next week should also be pretty quite.

we went Friday 11/26 and it was busy. Long line for the rides but the ones we went on seem to go by fast. Just walking through the park was hard because of the crowds.

I want to go again Dec. 17th or 19-22nd one of those days

Goofy Mom that picture is just crazy - I have never seen it like that before. By chance do you have any more pictures you could post from the week? We have thought about going during this time but now I am having second thoughts.....Thanks again for posting the pic.

I have tons of pictures of our trip, but not many of the crowds. I'll take a quick look through and see if I have anymore that "pertain".:thumbsup2

Taken while on the DL Train pulling out of Fantasyland on Tuesday 22nd, not sure of the time, but I think it's late afternoon.

All of your pictures almost looks like summer and Christmas week crowds. Good thing I did DL last week than Thanksgiving week since it was not that heavy but it did rain on Saturday.

Believe it or not, I've seen worse. Christmas 2008 was more crowded than this last Thanksgiving week. I was there summer 2009 the week after 4th of July. The weather was a pleasant 80 degrees and we did everything at least once, our favorites two or three times in three days.

Hi from Oregon!:wave2: My son's high school is out for Thanksgiving week. They started doing that last year. I'm sure there was some Oregonians in that crowd. I'm going for NYE because my mom has always wanted to go then, but I'm terrified of what the crowds will be. :scared1:

New Mexico is also off that whole week...our kids get off way too much.

Wow is all I've got.

Many California schools had the whole week off for the first time because of the budget crisis. I know several people who went the beginning of the week who've never gone at that time before since the kids had the time off. But they wanted to be home for Tday gatherings.

We went the week before Thanksgiving - the 17th-19th, and the crowds were really low. The longest we waited for something was 20 min. We're thinking of making this a tradition and always going the week before Thanksgiving.

That picture of the crowds is :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I, too have just returned from DL. I found the crowds large, but manageable. On Tuesday I was hoping that the threat of rain would have kept some people away, no dice. Alice, Peter Pan, and Storybook constantly had waits over an hour. I didn't even attempt to get Rupunzels picture cause her line was horrendous, too.

Sorry about your camera. My cell phone feel out of my pocket on BTMRR. I felt it hit my foot when it fell. I did file a L&F report and it's not a smartphone, just a basic camera phone. It does have insurance but I'm hoping Disney finds it. I've tried to call a few times to see if they found it but after being on hold for more than 10 minutes I start to lose patience and if they say they didn't find it after being on hold that long I'ld probably loose it.

Wow!!! What a crowd. We are going Dec 10-13th. I guess we need to be prepared for really, really long lines. The first time I went to Disneyland was in 1959 and we went the weekend before Christmas. We had waits around 25-30 minutes for the E-Ticket Rides. I grew up in LA area and we did Disney at least 4 times a year - and once was always around Christmas. In 2003 we went for two days the week after Christmas and thought that was crowded but I don't remember it being as crowded as this photo shows. I hope we get a rain to scare away some of the crowds :goodvibes

That was my immediate reaction when I saw the picture too. We're going to be there Dec. 17-22.

Is that photo representative of the crowds I can expect the week before Christmas or will it be worse?

Just trying to be mentally prepared aka "girding my loins". ;)

OMG that picture is CRAZY!!!!!! I don't know that I ever saw it that crowded either. Last year we went Tgiving day thru that following Monday, crowds were great on Tgiving and Friday but started to pick up Sat & Sun, it was never that crowded!!

okay, seems like timing is everything!

We braved crowds and risked heat stroke in early-mid July 2010. Had a marvellous time, but looking to return next year in November 2011.

I need some insider secrets now: gimme some dates to look into for a Nov 2011 visit! We aren't at all picky about dates, or which days of the week. We just want a good solid 5 days in the parks with the fewest possible November crowds! I'm thinking a M-F just after American Thanksgiving. Would this be advisable?

Thanks!

So far that I could tell, the week after Thanksgiving week (including Thanksgiving weekend) is promising for low to medium crowds. I can't help but wonder if the rain had something to do with the higher crowds Thanksgiving week. If you recall, it was raining the week and weekend before T-day week. It always seems to me that the park tends to be more crowded on a nice day following a rainy day. Did that make sence? I can see what I'm talking about in my head but it doesn't always translate when I type it out.;)

Another time frame to consider: Monday, 11/14/2011 through Friday 11/18/2011. It's after Veteran's Day (11/11/11) but the week before Thanksgiving week (11/-21-11/24). The Christmas decor should be up by then but it's between the two major holidays.

Good luck!

We we're there the day of the picture Goof_Mom posted. We had dinner at Cafe Orleans, and the line for Pirates reached almost to the Haunted Mansion!!
We rode nothing that afternoon... we walked around and left by 8pm. That was our first evening there.

uhh that sucks about the crowds. i did hear though it got better friday - sat and sunday was not bad at all! Yep DLR is a popular place during Tday week!

Wow those crowd pics are crazy!!! :scared1: I don't know what I would do if I flew all the way from CT to go to Disneyland for 3 days and had to deal with crowds like that! I was thinking of going in November 2011 the week AFTER Thanksgiving, but I might have to wait and see what the reports are about this week before committing to it! :rotfl:

Bummer about your camera ~ I hope it turns up and soon. As for crowds *our days were Thurs-Sat and we had a great time, arrived prior to park opening, took a mid day break and went back late afternoon. A CM Thurs. evening told me that that day had been the least crowded of the week *so far*
