So for anyone who's done it already, are there opportunities to meet and network with some disney execs? I thought I heard somewhere that you could shadow someone for a day or attend 'networking events' but I can't find any concrete info on this anywhere....

Any ideas?

absolutely, i met lee cockerell, the nbr 2 man at wdw.. he retired so he isn't there.. i met phil holmes who was the GM of MK operations, and liz clark, gm of f and b ops at mk.. so there are plenty of opportunities.. i suggest going to those networking events.. if you read the main street diary which will be located on the hub/portal (you get access when you go down there).. or even the newsletters that are the cp clubhouses at each complex, they give you dates on networking sessions, and so forth, so there are plenty of opportunities to do that..i am not sure about the shadowing part, but there are times when you can sit down and talk with people.. you can always ask for emails/business cards, set up a time to meet people in departments you may see yourself working in the future.

At Animal Kingdom, they had a "Meet and Greet" section for diffrent areas, organizations, etc but it really didn't benefit me. I got in touch with the person charge of cast members at AK and he got me to do a Meet and Greet with the head of Entertainment at AK :D! It was so awesome, I learned so much about the Entertainment and I got to take a tour of where they keep the parade floats and character/show/parade costumes for Animal Kingdom.

If Meet and Greets aren't offered, be sure to ask about them!

There's always good chances for Networking. Taking some of the classes are a good idea too because they do bring in guest speakers and such. Ask around and talk to everyone you can to get the know how of what you are for. I had the pleasure of meeting Brad Rex, President of Epcot, and picking his brain. :) Your managers are great ways to network as well. Talk to them about your hopes and what you want to do, who knows, they might just know a whay to get you to the top. :)
