Okay, I had always heard about this phenomena, but never really gave it much credence or thought.

BUT, with mere weeks to go, I am sitting at my desk at work fantasizing about getting home, getting out the scrub sponges, mops, and towels and CLEANING everything. I can almost *smell* the cleanser. My hands are itching. I MUST CLEAN!

I was not expecting this to be such a powerful feeling. I am :rotfl: at myself right now.

But there will be scrubbing and mopping and vacuuming when I get home tonight!

Went through that last weekend.  Unfortunately for me, cleaning involved lifting and moving pretty much every large heavy object in our basement -- twice.

Yes, my SO is going to be thrilled as well, I'm sure! :teeth:

I felt this alot when I was pregnant. I was 2 weeks away from delivery when I got stuck behind my washer/dryer because I just HAD to clean back there.

This never happened to me. I think if it had, I would not have called it nesting. I would have called it crazy!

My first child was a premie and I was admitted to the hospital at 31 weeks. My dad was scheduled to visit in three weeks and I knew DH hadn't had time to do any cleaning. My MIL cleaned my entire house, from top to bottom. I had never seen it so clean. And she did all of DH's laundry too. She was a saint!

Mal - I can't believe you are so close to delivering. It seemed like only yesterday you were asking us how you should tell your co-workers. Good luck to you.

This is too funny....DD is going through this right now too. All I do is watch and laugh and be THRILLED that it's not me, pregnant OR cleaning! :rotfl:

Happy Birthing to you Maleficent!! :cool1:

i don't understand.. :confused3 haha

you're fantasizing about cleaning? i just don't get it... :confused3

I am WISHING this would kick in!!!! I need it! I'm starting to feel cheated!

I'm right there with ya!! I still have 3 months left and I'm cleaning/washing/folding/organizing anything and everything! I'm getting lots done too. My baby room is ready almost (all the wash is done, clothes are folded and sorted, all my diapers are in their place, etc...) I'm packed for my trip next Wednesday, my clothes are all washed for work and the days when I get back..for me and DS... it's nuts! LOL!! Wish I was like this all the time! My linen closet is so clean and neat, I just open the door and look at it to enjoy it! LOL!

I had this, too, but not like my next door neighbor! She had these built-in glass shelves in her den - about 8 or 10 of them, I think. At least every other day, and at the end I think every day, she would get up on a stepladder, take everything off a shelf, Windex it and dust everything else (books, knick knacks, etc.) and then put everything back. Eery single shelf. Every day. It was amazing!

I had that, with both of my pregancies, but it wasn't until the very last couple of weeks!

You who've been busy cleaning the whole time - come over to my house, yours are too clean!!

here ya go. Knock yourself out.

I know what you mean! I only have 9 days left until my due date and I just can't get motivated to clean no matter what. I sit here fantasizing about all that needs to be done but I literally just don't have the energy to do it! Dh has told me that he will help me tomorrow and Sunday but I forsee him doing most of the work. I feel cheated too! I want to have that nesting feeling...lol! Oh, well, I guess since I didn't like to clean before I got preg., maybe it won't kick in for me the way it does for others!? :confused3

I didn't think this would happen to me, and it didn't - until about 3 weeks before my due date with younger DS. One day (happened to be my birthday, LOL) I just had to take down all the curtains, clean them, and wash down the walls. :confused3. DS was born 2 days later, 3 weeks early.

When I had my kids, it wasn't so much cleaning as I wanted to rearrange the furniture. About 2 weeks before I delivered each child, I would spend my evenings moving the sofa, chairs, dining room furniture, etc.
