getting ready to rent for the first time how does pay pal work do i need an account or is it the renter's account
Also if i recieve an email with a confirmation # and call the reservation should be able to be confirmed in my name?

At a minimum, the person receiving the money needs to have a paypal account. You would need their e-mail address or phone number to send money.

You would not be able to call to confirm the reservation. DVC Member Services will only speak with the member that made the reservation. You could view some information about the reservation on-line once it's in your name here: MyDisneyReservation.com/DVC
 
I've never rented points so I can't speak from experience. The main advice most give to those renting out points would also apply to the person renting. That is to have a rental contract. Make sure you are comfortable with the terms and conditions contained in the rental contract.
 

Only that maybe you shouldn't rent point if you are really nervous about it.

If you are the kind of person that hates not having control of every aspect of your reservation like me...:rolleyes1
maybe renting is not for you.

Beyond that, rent from someone who has been active on DIS for a while.
Get everything in writing, a signed contract.
 
Have you read the FAQ on renting in the Rent/Trade section of the board? If you haven't, I would definitely do that.
 
It really comes down to a matter of trust. You need to feel comfortable with the person you are renting from. If you are still nervous at trying to get some level of comfort don't do it.
