Hello Ladies- I need some advice, I am notorious for having a nervous stomach and I am terrified that I will have "troubles" on the wedding day- in fact I know that I will - anyone have the same problem and what do you do or take. My friend is a nurse and thinks I have irritable bowel, so maybe I should go to the Dr.
Thanks- Allison

I have irritable bowel syndrome as well. You really should go to the doctor. They have things that can treat the symptoms so you can relax and enjoy your wedding day. Also, go ahead and start tracking what you eat. It's a good idea to know what foods trigger problems for you. For instance, I can't eat garlic without getting terrible stomach cramps. Then when you go to the doctor you'll already have that info.

I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) many years ago. It's terrible at times! It has also helped me to figure out what foods trigger it, for example any kind of seeds, especially sesame seeds, or anything fried really upsets my stomach. When I avoid the trigger foods I do much better. I was on some meds for it but I didn't find them to be particularly helpful. I feel the same on or off the meds so long as I watch what I eat. Also, regular exercise and lots of water help me. It wouldn't hurt to see a doctor, you want to make sure it's not something more serious like an ulcer. Good luck!!

Def. go to a doctor it isnt worth worrying it will ruin your day even for one minute. ALSO eat SMALL MEALS all day....keeping the stomach partially full will help a harsh onset of cramps etc.

I have IBS as well and I am also worried about my stomache since whenever I get nervous or really excited I tend to feel sick. I tried the medication and it didn't really help and some of the side effects were not nice. Like the others have posted I am figuring out what foods trigger stomache cramps so that I can avoid them. Also I have ulcers so anything with a lot of acid usually makes me feel pretty miserable. My ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 am so I will have time to eat a bit and I plan on eatting bland acid absorbing things like toast or bagels which I hope will help more than hurt. Good luck and really try to keep track of your food to see what makes you sick and what might make you feel better. Also liquid Pepto-bismol is gross but I find it really helps.

I would go to the doc! I was miserable the day of our wedding and most of out honeymoon. I had A LOT of antacids, and they helped, but I wish I would have felt better than I did for that Magical week.

Do what you need to do to be prepared!!!

Go see a doctor about it. I kept waking up the night before my wedding, sick to my stomach, because I was nervous that things wouldn't go exactly right. If you can relax better than I did, that would definitely help :)

Also, my DH & I spent the night before the wedding apart - he was at the Contemporary & I was at the GF - and it was the first time in over 5 years that I had slept without him. Little changes to the routine like that can be very upsetting, and can then trigger an upset stomach.

Cheers!
Heather W
