from 2 bedroom at akv to 2 studios a bcv...

Did I make a mistake? So nervous taking my 2 daughters and mother and father inlaw along with my wife....

I need some reassurance for my downsizing of rooms...PLEASE

Well, you're now very close to Epcot, and the wonderful seasonal things they have going. Be sure to watch the "tag" for Illuminations. We've seen it many times over the years, and DH just remarked how beautiful it was this past Friday when we saw it again!

You must have had a reason to do it, so concentrate on those reasons!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION was my reason. I'm sure the akv busses only would've wore me out, and the 20 minute commute back and forth.

The 20 minutes at AKV would only be for the Magic Kingdom and it is very likely the commute to MK from BCV will be that long or worse. The bus to MK situation at the BW and BCV is not the best.

I am sure you will have great time but I never recommend selection of a resort based on transportation.

Honestly, (and I know this is not what you want to hear) if it was me, and it is possible, I would get the 2BR back. We always prefer the space of a 2BR to 2 studios, but that is us. As Sammie said, transportation is relative. Each resort is close to some things and farther from others and you will have to take buses no matter where you stay. We are big proponents of the WDW bus system and always leave our car parked at our resort during our visits.

If it is not possible to get the 2BR back, or if you truly prefer the studios, then don't worry about it. Any day at WDW, in any size accommodations, is better than a day at home! :)

nope my 2 bedroom is gone.....ugh I shouldn't of reacted so fast!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry about it. You are still going to have a wonderful vacation. If you do want the 2BR back try waitlising it and stalking the DVC website. Things do open up at the last minute, as you see with the studios you were able to get today.

I think these boards are great, but I do think that they help create a climate of over-reaction/obsession with trip planning. Someone talks about the 20-minute bus ride from AKV and others become worried about it (it's really not a bad trip). Someone posts about the hardest to get Disney dining reservation and someone else then becomes obsessed with getting it...even if it isn't a restaurant they would have chosen to go to otherwise. And so on. Just keep in mind that WDW is a fantastic place filled with lots of great opportunities. There is not one right way to experience it and being open minded and willing to have an adventure will serve you well.

Have a great vacation!

I also recommend if you would like to get the 2BR at AKV waitlist as you know people change their plans. Give ms a call just in case because it's coming up.

Regarding the transportation, this is a busier time and no matter which resort you may stay at patience is needed with the buses.

This is wonderful time of year to be at WDW and I'm sure you'll enjoy the resort and all the decorations there and at the parks. Don't stress over too much before your vacation, it will be here soon!

I should've said leave tomorrow. Lol last minute change!!!

Thank you for reassuring I think I made a good decision, I've yet to stay at bcv and am excited.

I hope you didn't use fewer points for the two studios than the two bedroom villa. If you did, those extra points just went into holding.

I have to agree with you on that one! We stayed at BWV for the first time this summer and made the mistake of taking bus from Animal Kingdom to the resort one day instead of taking the car. It felt like it took FOREVER.

That being said, we are staying at AKV this Xmas and I would have gladly swapped it for the OPs two Studios just to be close to Epcot :)

You made a great choice - don't stress. My favorite place to stay is BCV because of the ease and closeness to everything. I tried AKV once & although it was great to see the animals - the bussing process ate up a lot of our time. As for the change from 2bdrm to 2 studios - it will only matter if you had planned on cooking in the room. I've stayed in a 1bdrm, 2bdrm & a studios and I prefer studios. Even with a 3mo baby and a 7mo baby the studio was perfect. The kitchenette is enought to make quick food. This last trip I tried the laundry room at BCV (3rd floor I think just off of the elevator) and I loved it. The washers and dryers (2 of each) look brand new and are HE - much better than the ones in the 1 & 2 bdrms. Have a great time! I am sooooooooooooo jealous!!!

I agree. Dont stress.

The only advantage to the 2 bdr would be the full kitchen if you were planning to cook.

We took a large group and divided between 3 studios. It was nice to have some away time from the group. So this could be an advantage for you as well.

Beach club is fantastic. You were lucky to get the rooms. Sometimes separate rooms are better anyway.

Don't worry! You'll be at WDW over Christmas. At BCV, you guys can walk to Epcot and ferry to DHS pretty quickly. There will be things to do outside around the lake, like movie on the beach, ESPNZone, the boardwalk when you are tired.

If you have park hoppers you can always walk through EPCOT and take the monorail to MK. I loved doing that when I stayed at BWV.

I think you made the better move. I would rather stay at BCV any day over Animal Kingdom. Being close to Epcot and MGM is worth staying in studios. Animal kingdom villas is too far out and really only close to one thing, Animal Kingdom.
