So we leave tomorrow night and im getting super nervous. DS is 3 and has aspergers and SPD(mostly sensory seeker). Hes had a rough 2wks at home. I have no clue what to do. Im crossing my fingers hes going to have a good week, but usually when he has a bad week he gets them for like a month. On sunday i almost canceled the trip. He took off from me at the mall that day and then Tuesday he ran out of school into the street, while i was still in the school.

This will be his 3rd trip but the last 2 trips he wasnt as bad and he was still small enough to ride in a backpack type carrier. Im worried about him loosing us. Any ideas of what we can do incase he gets lost? He will not talk to or look at a stranger to tell them hes lost. If by some chance he did tell someone he was lost they wouldnt be able to understand him. Most likely he would just run or lash out.

any reassurance for me??

Are you bringing a stroller? You can rent one there in the area that comes with a 5-point harness, which should keep him in his seat!

Also, you can stop by City Hall and get a Guest Assistance Card which will allow you to take the stroller into lines, which should also make it a lot easier on you (and him).

I have read on here where parents have written their contact info on the child (in the case of runners). Some have used a marker, some used safety tattoos.

You could also safety pin your info to the back of his shirt.

Take a picture of his each day after he is dressed. If he gets away it will help CM's know who to look for.

If he does get away from you, notify a CM right away. They have procedures in place to help find the child.

I second the recommendation of the stroller with a 5 point harness and getting a GAC that will let you treat the stroller as a wheelchair and take it in the lines with you.

I used one of the engraving machines they have in pet stores to make an ID tag with my cell number and gave it to DD to wear as a necklace. You could attach one of those tags to your DS's shoe.

I would get one of those backpack leash things for him. If he thinks it is just a backpack, he might be fine with it for whenever he is not in a stroller.

Have not used this at Disney but have done it for around town. Had a foster kid for two weeks that was a runner that way. I made him some T shirts with the medical alert symbol and my cell number on them.
