Nervous about Ohana dinner, is it worth it?

We love Ohana, and have never had a bad experience there. Our last trip there, in March, it was even better than usual. Service was top notch and excellent food. It's a must every trip for us!

It is a must do for us!! We've been there 3 times and have enjoyed it each time. January 2016 being the latest. When we got back home I took my son to something somewhat similar for his birthday. We were greatly disappointed as we enjoyed Ohana's much better.

What did you dislike about the luau food? I'm asking because they're pretty similar, as far as seasoning goes. We've been several times & my favorite items are always the salad, dumplings, noodles, & veggies. I've always thought the meats were too overcooked for my liking, but I don't mind paying the $$ for the other stuff.

We went once on the dining plan around 8 years ago and have never been back. My DH who is not fussy at all said please never book that again. I'm super fussy so I didn't say a word during dinner but waited for my hubby to voice his opinion. This is the only restaurant in WDW that my hubby has ever said he disliked. I don't get what people love about it, the only thing I liked was the bread pudding.

We've been each year past two years. First was great. Last year all the proteins were dry and flavorless. Noodle-crazy kids didn't like them last year because they tasted "burnt"

Ate there last night. For us it's yes because eating at Ohana is more than just the meal. It's an experience. Our girls love hula dancing lessons and coconut races. We all put our phones away and talk to each other. We joke with the servers.

If you want good steak, go to Shula's. If you want meat skewers go to Texas De Brazil.

Don't go to Ohana hoping to be done in an hour. Think of Ohana as a sit back and relax family meal.

Yea, all that is great and it will probably make the decision to go back but from a purely food perspective, it wasn't as good as it has been and its most certainly not a $200 meal. I also felt quite rushed last time. If we decide to go again, I am going to be very clear how I want to courses to come and how I want them to wait until I ask for the next before bringing.

Is it worth it? In a word, yes!:thumbsup2. Before I started booking my ADR's the last few days, I asked DH what restaurants he definitely wanted to go to. His only answer was Ohana. Always a must do for us.::yes::

Biggest WDW restaurant disappointment for us in 4 years. They continued to bring the food out to us so quickly we could not eat fast enough and the food got cold. While the apps were on the table barely eaten, they starting bringing out the main course. We would never go again. Complete disappointment. They take too many reservations and there is usually a herd of people waiting to get in with ADRs. My suggestion would be if you must try Ohana's get an early ADR.

This was an issue for us as well. Anyone have luck being very clear about holding apps then meats until requested? I don't want my food thrown at me in a 1 hr experience. Want to take our time and enjoy

'Ohana is such an enigma. It is either an amazing meal or terrible, there doesn't seem to be any in-between. And unfortunately you just won't know until you go. And all of that being said we still go every trip.

Yes...and no. Although it's not their number one pick, Ohana is on the favorites list for my family. We go nearly every trip. Almost always, the food is excellent. What can be lacking occasionally is the service. We often feel rushed here...and we're not a family that lingers over dinner when we're at WDW. I'm sure it's due to the restaurant's popularity. However, when you're paying for a family of 5 or more and you tip well, you don't expect this. Also, some of the tables remove you pretty far from the "magic". All said, we enjoy it enough that we return again and again. (Going next week with dd!)

We have always done Breakfast and Dinner there that being said We had very bad service our last trip. Not sure if it was the time of year or not the food was fine. Food was very slow getting but it was the Christmas time.

I feel like the CHASM between best and worst experiences and reviews of 'Ohana is wider than anything subjective I've seen in the history of restaurant reviews!! :rotfl:

It's become one of the world's great mysteries to me... ... :D
