Nervous about non-refurb room at BWV

I am so nervous that we will not get a refurb room at BWV in Feb.....

Send out good vibes for us! My sons allergies will NEVER hold up in the non-refurb room :(
 
Well, unfortunately they have refurbed less than half the resort so far, so you will need some luck The only advice I can get is to try and arrive at the resort early and explain the need for a refurbed room due to allergies, and they would likely do their best to accommodate. You could also try and call member services and see if they could flag your reservation to a refurbed room. They do try and do what they can.
 
If they’re shutting down the whole back half then the only rooms they can pout you in are the refurbed ones.

Phase 1 had the front half closed so seems like they’ll do the same.

I heard they weren't shutting down the whole other wing, only parts of it.

Speculation on my part, I figured the reason they chose to close the front half in phase 1 likely related to plumbing issues that BW’s had in recent years. It was odd they didn’t do the usual floor by floor, but that method could’ve made redoing some of the plumbing much harder.

We were in the last BW view studio right before Christmas where construction was still happening. Overheard one crew leader explaining the how and why to grade plumbing but couldn’t tell if he was referring to fixing new or old piping.

Spent the weekend at BWV. Only one hallway was open by the elevators. All of those villas are refurbished. They have the whole back wing closed off and are working on all those rooms. If they haven’t moved your reservation, you should get a refurbished room. And they were very nice - they did a great job with the refurb.
 
I had a non-refurbished room in October. It was so musty, I had to keep the AC running so that it was much colder in the room than I would have liked. I didn't complained about it because I knew what I was getting into - I booked just a few months before the trip, and I was happy to be able to stay at BWV, even knowing that I was probably going to get a non-refurbished room.
 
You can also request a Deep Cleaning for Allergies, whether you get a refurbed villa or not.

Yes, definitely request an allergy cleaning. That is a request that they will guarantee. I always ask for one because I have a serious allergy to something that is used a fragrance enhancer in a lot of detergents (and soaps and body wash - you get the idea) and need to ensure my rooms are cleaned with no scents. It has never been a problem. My request is already in for my March visit.
 
In regards to the renovations, I had something odd happen. We had to cancel our Jan trip last minute to due a medical emergency, so of course our points went into holding. I was working to rebook for the first week in March and remarkably found a week at our home resort, CCV, open up. That's not the odd part. It's rare but it happens.

However we still had some points in holding so I was stalking and stalking trying to add on anywhere either before or after our CCV stay. One morning a few weeks ago as I was refreshing the booking page over and over, suddenly almost every booking category for BWV showed up for that week. At first I thought it had to be a glitch seeing how so many rooms were out of service there, but I refreshed a few times and they still showed available. I grabbed a couple of nights in a 2BR BW view to mostly clear out our points in holding and crossed my fingers I didn't get a phone call saying it had been an error. It's been several weeks and I still have the reservation. I thought at the time maybe they are slowly dumping rooms back into the system as they make headway on the reno, but who knows :confused3 ?. I did check the next day out of curiosity and they were all gone - probably grabbed by waitlists and stalkers such as myself.

I guess I need to send in a request for a renovated room, but I'm just so darn happy that we found rooms and got all but 6 points out of the holding jail that I really don't care.

Not trying to start an argument here but why would you have booked a resort that may or may not have a desired room available if it was a necessity for his allergy?

It has been sounding like the BW view wing is finished, so I’m not surprised you found a BW view. But it sounds like they finished a large area along the standard hallway too, if all categories popped up (standard plus P/G across the hall from them). Hooray!

No argument....his allergy is new one :(

Plus when has BWV EVER been available at the 7 month mark lol
