Nervous about CM's ADR now....

So, after reading lots of negative comments about CM's on here, I am nervous about our Jan ADR. We will be on the dining plan, staying at BLT, and have 2 toddlers, so I thought this would be great. Is the food really so bad that we should change our ADR? I know we aren't paying "OOP" for the meal, but my DH still would be a little ticked if the food is icky! TIA!

You may be posting just in hopes of getting people to reassure you that it'll be fine, but IMO, it's NOT and I WOULD change my ADR. In fact, my DH is so emphatically against eating there until I start reading that they have improved because even he has had enough of the food. We like some of the buffets at WDW, we're not picky and always go at opening, but this one we won't do anymore and it used to be a ritual and tradition for us to do it 2-4 times a visit.
But, if you've never done it, maybe you won't care as you don't have previous visits to compare to. :confused3 And that said, breakfast is better than dinner because of reason PP cited, it's basic breakfast fare.

One other issue is that certain people have an aversion to buffets in general so they are already going in with a negative impression.

I will agree with others that the dinner food at CM is mediocre at best, but honestly, I would keep the reservation. You have the DDP so won't be getting sticker shock when you realize how much the bill is (which I think is my biggest problem with it...I can handle mediocre food, but over-priced mediocre food..not so much! However, the character interaction is great and my kids absolutely love CM so I would go back for them anytime! Let's face it....WDW is mostly for our kids anyway (even though us Disney adults love it too) and the look on my DD2s face when Minnie Mouse came up and gave her a hug made it all worth it! :goodvibes

We ate a CM's for breakfast in September, myself, DH, DD6 and DS4, we really liked it. The characters were fun and the food was fine. There is a lot to choose from and everything I had was yummy. I do not mind breakfast buffets, I can always find something like fruit, waffles, etc. My kids loved it and I would take them back there next time.

The only thing I did not like was the standing in line for a picture that I knew I would not buy, so we opted not to, not a big deal.

Keep it! We just went with our toddlers last week and the characters and environment are why you go. The food is fine. Definitely nothing special but definitely not icky either.

DH loves Chef Mickey's and we don't even have kids.....but according to your signature you have a 2 and 4 year old. For that reason alone I say keep it. It won't be the best food you have on your trip.....but it is not bad. And the experience of your children being able to interact with Mickey and Friends without waiting in a line will be worth it.

IMHO - the restaurant serves its purpose. Character interaction with a side of food. Each time we have been there, each character that was out and about stopped by our table.
