neroma on foot?

anyone have this surgery? in to 4 1/2 weeks recovery from surgery tarsal tunnel and having a tumor removed from foot had cast off 1 week and now they tell me this neroma thing on ball of foot ,wondering if anyone has ever heard of or had this surgery? recovery time?ive already been off work 4 1/2 weeks already . what next??

OMG... I was searching for info on the net about this hard 'lump' on the ball of my foot and began researching neroma. I was going to talk to my MD about this. Please tell me what your 'symptoms' are.

hi Felicia,
burning pain 3rd and 4 toe numb , any walking is extremly painful!!shoes hurt when they even touch the ball of my foot.i masage it even though pressure hurts. i can feel the lump, if almost clicks when i move it. what it is a nerve that has developed a "tumor" that cause's inflamation on the nerve.
wrapping tight, motrin,changing shoes,steriod shots, are conservative methods of treatment, if dosent work then surgery to remove. i was hoping to hear from some one who has had this done as , nothing else is working. hope this helps thanks

I've never had this type of surgery, Huck, so I can't offer advice.

I had one removed years ago. it was between my big toe and second toe. Recovery wasn't that long for me. I was out of work for about a week. I had the same problems as you. The relief was amazing. The only part that made nervous was when the doctor gave me the prescription for pain medication the day before surgery and urged me to fill it that day.
