Nemo Submarine Lagoon Refilling!

How exciting! We were there last week and saw it empty. It was pretty cool but I was hoping it would be up and running again in June.

We will be there in five weeks and I was so hoping it would be open by then! The lagoon really lends such an amazing ambience to that corner of the park! Plus, I love hearing the seagulls squawking, “Mine? Mine!” as I walk by. 😆

I just read that Disneyland needed permission from the City of Anaheim to refill the lagoon because it takes 9 million gallons of water. It apparently took about a week to drain! I’ve also read in the past that Disneyland uses a special reservoir system when they drain and refill big bodies of water.

Edited to add that I found this: “When they are drained for maintenance, including the Rivers of America, that water is sent to the Orange County Water District to be recycled through its groundwater replenishment system.” -OC Register
