Nemo Strategy?

Yeah from what I understand no EE day on Thursday. That's the first day in the park for us. So were only going to have Saturday for our EE.

After seeing those lines in the pictures from yesterday, I'm pretty much resigned to riding Nemo on our October trip. I'm just worried how the rest of the park is. But we will try to ride Nemo. Not sure were willing to get in line at the enterance a whole hour early though! Half hour yes!

No EE this Thursday - it will be on Wednesday this week. Next week it is back to normal.

We are going on the 24th, 25th and 26th also! We plan to head straight to Nemo on Sunday too. What time do you plan to be at the gates on that Sunday morning?

I don't know, the earlier the better. I have a 4 yr old princess: who is not a morning person but I am hoping for no later than 7:30, gonna try for closer to 7, we'll see how that works out. ;) We're staying right across the street so I don't have to rely on any kind of transportation except my feet. :p

Two options, it will depend on the crowds.
1. Go Right off the end of Main St, through Tomorrowland then drift left towards the monorail station. Nemo is directly below the monorail station

2. If big crowds you might be better suited to go round the otherside of the Mattahorn, go right round the mattahorn and you will see it as you pass the Mattahorn loading area, you may have a clearer run this way.

Good luck!

We are staying pretty much right across the street too! I have a three year old that isn't really a morning person either. I figure we'll go to bed early the night before, because all we're doing is Goofy's Kitchen and DTD that afternoon/evening.

Thanks for your help Finding Nemo! :rotfl2:

The route through Tomorrowland is shorter, but it will be a lot more crowded. I think that going through the castle and around the Matterhorn is the way to go. Tomorrowland is so congested when it is crowded because it bottlenecks once you get past Buzz.

You could cut up and across Tomorrowland Terrace, but if you have a stroller or wheelchair with you, it won't work because of the stairs.

So when you get in, get to the far right side of rope drop, and then when they let you in, go past Tomorrowland and hang a right where Ariel's spot is and cut between there and the Matterhorn. That will take you straight to Nemo, and it will get you past the millions of people trying to go through Tomorrowland. Don't go as far as the Matterhorn loading area, because you'll be wasting time heading that far. You don't need to go all the way around the mountain (unless you have reason to believe that the line is already backed up that far).

Thanks for the suggestions on the fastest path to take. Another question:

We were planning on using our Disney Visa to get 2 free strollers for the kids. Will we have time to pick up the strollers before rope drop or should we wait until after riding Nemo? It might be faster for us with the kids in the strollers since one of my kids walks a bit slow (she has to wear special inserts in her shoes for a foot problem). We are experienced at steering strollers through a sea of humanity without running over too many innocent bystanders.

I'm not sure what time the stroller rentals open. But keep in mind that you will have to wait in line to get into the park before you can get in for rope drop. IME, they usually open the gates 15-20 minutes before rope drop, and people are usually lined up at least 30 minutes before that. There will also be a line to get a stroller, and it can take a bit to get through.

If you really want to maximize your time, skip the stroller and carry the kids. You can always go back to pick up a stroller after the ride.

Would the Monorail play into this at all? Would this work as a strategy? We're going in Oct and staying onsite, so I know it drops you right at the Nemo queue.

We went yesterday with the thought of maybe ridding Nemo. It didn't happen for us. We didn't arrive at opening (And the few times I have, they haven't let us in early :confused3 ) Since we are locals, we arrived about noon and decided to check on Nemo at that time. The line was showing a 120 min. wait. (No Fastpass) And most of it is in the sun. Since we have AP we decided to skip it and wait until the novelty wears off.

Then we decided to get lunch and headed to our favorite DL eatery, Pizza Port. The line was out the door, and past the large spinning wet marble ball! Oh well, that's what we get for getting there so late. Checked Space Mtn.-FP return was for 10:30 p.m. (we weren't staying that late so we skipped it). Grabbed FP for Buzz and headed over to DCA. (Along with many others)

DCA was busier than it normally is. After much discussion, we decided to eat at Wine Country Trattoria, and we're glad we did. Beautiful day, nice outside patio, great salad, and great server. :goodvibes Since we have AP, we usually just eat quickly at places like Pizza Port, etc. Table service was nice for a change and my salad was only $10, versus the chicken salad we normally get at PP which is $8.50. And WCT included soft bread sticks. PP charges over $4 for focaccia bread.

We spent the rest of our time at DCA. DL was way to busy for us. I heard from a CM (friend of the family) that on opening day (Mon) the wait for Nemo was 5 hours! Yikes! I can't think of anything I'll wait 5 hours for! JMHO

Have a great time, get there as early as possible, and get to Nemo as soon as you can. Maybe while you are in line, another one of your party can go get a FP. :goodvibes

I love hearing about these Nemo reports.. 5 hours?!?! That is crrrazy.

There should be a post of strictly nemo reports as to inform all of us of the insanity that is the Finding Nemo Sub Ride. I love them....

I'm wondering about this as well. I think we might try this on Sunday. We're locals with AP's so we don't mind parking at DtD to hop on the monorail right at 8am. We will be eating lunch at the Jazz Kitchen so we will get our parking validated there, giving us 5 free hours to park.

I will have two little ones with me, and my sister and her husband will be meeting us there. We are going to try it. If it just doesn't work out, we'll try another time. I can't imagine waiting longer than about 45 min (my kids are only 1 and 3).

The biggest issue I can see with this is there may be a long line @ the monorail station, and then there are only 2 trains running, and the trip INTO DL from the time you board the monorail is around 10 min, so by the time we actually get in there (even if we get on the first monorail), all the people who went in the gates will have had about a 10 min head start on us.

If I do it, I'll report back on how it went.

I would be tempted not to try the monorail....

You could end up waiting to get on a train that time of the morning, nothing more frustrating than waiting while the Nemo queue gets longer and longer, other may know more but I have heard there can be a long wait to get into DL via Monorail on normal mornings without Nemo....
