Nemo Strategy?

We are new to Disneyland so need a little guidance. We will be at Disneyland next Tues. and Wed. Right now I'm planning to buy 2 day tickets so we won't have EE. That leaves Tues. out as a Nemo day since that is an EE day and the line will be too long by the time we can get in the park.

That leaves us Wednesday as our Nemo day. I know to arrive early at the park gates for opening. But once inside, is there a "rope drop" and where should we wait at the rope drop? I'm guessing toward the right side since Nemo is in Tommorowland. I have a map of Disneyland but it is from when Nemo was under construction and doesn't show where the entrance is to the ride. Where is the entrance? Any tips to get there as quickly as possible? I will have two kids in tow so we won't be the quickest ones out there and we need all the help we can get!

Next Thursday is a Grad Night at DLR, so Wednesday will be an EE day. You might try a nice rest break in the middle of one of the days and get in line for Nemo closer to closing. Best of luck!

We're faced with trying to ride Nemo next week too. We do have two non-EE days as possibilities, and we'll try and shoot for that, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe one of the "dreams" should be riding Nemo.

I just called Disneyland to check on next week's EE schedule and I'm ok. The grad night is this week only so I'm safe next week. We will be in the parks on Tues. 6/19 and Wed. 6/20. There is EE on the 19th. But there is not an EE on the 20th. We want to try for Nemo on Wed 6/20, the non EE day.

We could add a 3rd day if we had to (my DH wanted to anyway  ) so we could get EE access. What would be our strategy to get there with EE? Is it running during EE or should we sacrifice our entire EE hour to get there and queue up an hour early? The kids would like to ride Nemo if reasonably possible.

Someone else may know better, but the prevailing thought right now is one of the following strategies:

1. Use a non-EE day. That way, everyone gets in at the same time. The trick to this is getting in line at the gate super early. That way, even if you're slower getting to Nemo, it still won't be a 3 hour wait.

2. Use an EE day and burn up that time running and waiting. Again, may or may not be the best strategy depending on whether or not you want to ride the rides in Fantasyland. This may go out the window though with the Nemo opening.

3. Go and get in line towards closing. Hard with smaller children. Mine are 9 and 11 and I'm really having second thoughts about this strategy. They will not nap in the afternoon, so if we're out late, we'll get a late start the next day. We could also be in line for quite some time doing this.

We've survived ride openings and new fireworks at WDW, so we'll get through this one alright. I've pretty much decided that if Nemo is a no go for us this time, it's a good excuse to go back. :thumbsup2

What do y'all think....Friday morning, we are planning on being at the gates at 8:00 am for the 9:00 opening.. Is that early enough?? My kids are probably going to think that Mom is nuts, but I want to make sure we can get towards the front of the rope drop so we can walk quickly :upsidedow to Nemo...

Mine are a bit younger and we live in the eastern time zone so my kids could not possibly stay awake to get in line towards closing. Don't bother to suggest a nap! They won't take one (but I would!).

I edited my post after you had already replied to my comment about adding a 3rd day to our tickets. Doesn't look like we have to do that. No grad night/EE issues on Wed. the 20th when we plan to be there.

I guess we will make a beeline to Nemo and see how it goes on Wed. Just someone please tell me exactly where it is so I can head to the right place!

That's VERY odd! The grad night schedule shows 6/21 as a grad night, and the hours for 6/21 bear that out. This would make 6/20 EE, as I understand they don't have EE on grad nights and move it to the day before. 6/19 is Tuesday, so it's an EE day regardless.

Next Thursday is a Grad Night at DLR, so Wednesday will be an EE day.

The gradnight is Thursday night, so the park is closing later - does this mean there is no EE on Thursday? I was under the impression that it was still Mon/Tue/Thur/Sat? PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG :)

ALSO, we have NEVER been to DL and don't have any clue where the queue will begin - so where should we briskly walk towards at opening? THANKS!

Where do you find the grad night schedule? Is it on the DL web site?

I asked elsewhere about EE - and was told IF gradnight had been on Wednesday then EE would not happen on Thursday - but since it is on Thursday EE stays the same. Dunno if this is correct, but seems to go along with the call made to DL.

That's GREAT news! Means I have another non-EE day to work with!

I hope the EE days stay the same next week because I was planning to save our EE day for the 21st since the park doesn't open until 9 a.m. that day. Easier to do EE on that day than an 8 a.m. opening and I just would like the extra hour on the day with shorter hours. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Yeah from what I understand no EE day on Thursday. That's the first day in the park for us. So were only going to have Saturday for our EE.

After seeing those lines in the pictures from yesterday, I'm pretty much resigned to riding Nemo on our October trip. I'm just worried how the rest of the park is. But we will try to ride Nemo. Not sure were willing to get in line at the enterance a whole hour early though! Half hour yes!

I'm going to try to do Nemo on a Sunday morning, but am also confused about the best route to the ride. Looking at a map it appears one could go one of 2 ways:

around the right side of the castle, around the front side of the matterhorn
OR
go through tomorrowland and hang a left

I hope some people will post route info over the next few weeks and let us know which way the masses are going and who gets there first. :)

I'm confused about which days are EE. :headache: Sunday is never an EE day, right?

We are going Sunday 6/24 Monday 6/25 and Tuesday 6/26. Will that Monday and Tuesday be an EE day?

That's my understanding and why I'm planning on Sunday morn for Nemo. I'm on a similar calendar a few weeks later.

I'm not sure i'll be able to convince DD we'll do FL on Monday while we do Nemo Sunday morn. I hope so!
