Nemo first thing on non-MM day

Hi, we have several days one of which will be MM. After reading the MM super threads and refreshing my memory on how to go about it, it seems clear that Nemo is NOT a ride to take during that hour. Should we bypass it and hope for a shorter line late that night (Sunday) OR just get up and get into the park at opening Monday (10 a.m.) and hoof it to Nemo and ride it first thing?

There are probably threads galore on this very subject so my apologies if I'm reinventing the wheel here. We leave tomorrow and NOW after a year of planning I have these stupid questions coming up in my mind. I was awake from 3-4 this morning "stressing" over the trip.

My friend who is joining us has not planned ONE MINUTE of this trip. She is so happy to have an Obsessive Disney Freak (ODF?) helping her enjoy it all without having to think about the details!!

My suggestion would be RideMax. Its a program that lets you choose what rides you want and then gives you the best time to ride with least amount of wait time. This will help with the stress and standing around deciding what to do next. It does cost money but I think well worth it and doesn't hurt to look at it. Just Google RideMax and you will find it. I third Ridemax; they have a whole section on their tips called "don't get sunk by the subs!" and they have some great suggestions for how to do it. It costs $15. for a 3 month subscription, and it's really fun to play around with.

We did Nemo during MM on a Saturday about a month ago, and it worked out just fine - they held us near the Matterhorn for about 10 minutes before they started walking us in the queue. We boarded the sub about 7:15 and were off of it by a little after 7:30 - we still had time to do several other rides during MM.

But I think you'd be ok doing Nemo first thing on a non-MM morning, too - just make sure you get to the turnstiles at least 20 minutes before the park opens, (don't they open the turnstiles 30 minutes before the park opens?) and then go to the end of Main Street and wait for rope drop. You'll want to go around the *left* side of the Matterhorn and not through Tomorrowland to get to the end of the Nemo queue, though.

every time we have gone we bought frommers book about disneyland and tips and tricks. well this year i'm skipping it cause the info here is awsome and now with ridemax i'll be set. we don't go till nov. so in sept i'll order it up and see how well it works.

The only reason, IMO, to not go on Nemo during MM is if you want to ride the Fantasyland rides more than Nemo. So if you want to ride Nemo more than FL, go for Nemo! But get to the gates early so you can be in the front of the line to give yourself the best chance!

And ignore any characters that are out...the characters were out each MM we had, and the temptation of stopping for them can thwart you from getting somewhere quickly.

Okay Molly. You make a very good point.

I asked my son last night what is the ONE thing he is looking forward to most and he said "the submarine voyage"...a boy after my own heart, calling it its retro name!! Anyway, I think you are PROBABLY right, in that if it's something we want to do anyhow, we should take advantage then a la Hydroguy's rules of going on it asap in our trip in case it breaks down, etc. I was just trying to maximize our time during that hour and not "waste" it on one ride. I will consult the others in our party to see if they care one way or another (they probably won't) and we'll go for it. I overplan all of this and then we usually are able to do what we like (being smart about it, of course) and we don't have to stick to the plan exactly as written...
