On Easter, DH and I had a quiet day at home. It was gorgeous out, so everyone in the neighborhood was outside, pretty much for the first time this year. DH and I were planting some flowers in the front yard, and our neighbors across the street were on their porch watching their kids play in the front yard.

(We've "met" these particular neighbors twice, DH has many "yardside" conversations with the husband, and they are REALLY great neighbors. They were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood, and brought us a really nice basket of cookies at Christmas. Anyways...)

So, our neighbors came over and invited us to their house later in the evening for "Adult Game Night" with them and her sister and her fiance... a game of Apples to Apples and drinks. I am assuming they realized we were alone for the day and felt bad :rotfl: We accepted their offer and came over later in the evening to play the game. We had a really great time. They put the kids to bed, and we played the game, had cake and wine and beer and had fun.

I would REALLY like to do something for them in return at OUR house. The only thing is the kids. My neighbors sister mentioned that they would do these "game nights" more, only it is hard with the kids, since they have to go to bed.

What would be a nice gesture in return?

You don't have to reciprocate in the exact same way (i.e., game night with no kids). Perhaps you could invite them and their children over for a cookout some evening. Maybe you could do burgers or hot dogs for the kids (ask the parents first), and something "fancier" for the adults.

How about saying that you'll provide the drinks & munchies the next time they want to do game night. Or wait 'til BBQ weather and have them & their kids to your house for an afternoon meal, outdoors.

Well, you could invite the kids over for a half slumber party, have sleeping bags, popcorn and movies for them in one room when it is time for "bed" and invite the adults over for game night. My kids would have loved that when they were little.

This is actually a GREAT idea! It's only a walk across the street to carry the kids home! This could be fun in the summer!!! :goodvibes Thanks!

See, if you are nice to the neighbor kids they don't egg your house on Halloween, they will pet sit for your Disney trips and they will cut your grass when you are too old to do that on your own :thumbsup2:lmao:
