Neighborhoods behind the Magic Kingdom

Can any of the locals tell me the names of a few of the neighborhoods off of Reams Rd behind the Kingdom?

We are looking for a rental house for the year and are looking at Davenport, Windermere and Celebration. What would the area behind the MK be considered? Is that part of Windermere or Winter Garden?

Any areas or neighborhoods to avoid?

Thanks for any info. I lived in that part of Orlando for years but that was a long time ago and so much has changed since then.

The neighborhoods off Reams Rd would be Windermere addresses - further back but not too far is Winter Garden.

I think Independence is one of them with a Windermere address off Reams. If you have names of subdivisions I can help but they aren't jumping out in my head now. We are in Lakeside at Lakes of Windermere and that is at the corner of Reams/535 with a Windermere address. There are more along 535 around the area of Reams.

Thanks. We are trying to look up rental houses online and just trying to narrow it down to that area is tricky. We need a 4 bedroom and it seems like most of what is available on that side of town are smaller. We can get so much more for our money on the Davenport side but I really like the area around Windermere much better.

Yes there is tons in Davenport now or even Clermont...not as much in Windermere but I think its because the location is sought after and its so convenient to everything. Also some of the areas have pretty strict rental policies in Windermere so its harder to rent out homes.

Thanks! Clermont is further out than we want to be, I think. It has been years since I have been up that way but I remember it being quite a hike.

Thanks so much. Would a 12 month lease be considered a short term rental? We will be there for a year.

Short term is by the week, usually. 12 month leases are long term. There's also dr. Phillips area just north on 535. some of those other cities are so large, its hard to get just one area.

A while back there were some homeowners that would do anything to rent out their houses by telling people that they could rent for as little as 3 months at a time.

Osceola county will allow short terms but no where in Orange county.

Good to know. I'm a bit nervous about renting because I have heard stories about the foreclosures in the area and the mortgages not getting paid leaving the renters out in the cold when the bank takes the home back.

I'm not interested in Osceola county at all.

You can check prior to moving in if the house is in foreclosure. The realtor or broker will be able to tell you.
You can also go to the Orange county courthouse as Florida is an open records state where you will find all the info you need.
