Or you might have to be like my DH who either works 3-11eves; or 3-3 am and then has to do it when he gets home-like last nite @ 4 am. But, I have to get ou w a 7 yo to the bus and then take a 3 yo to preschool. My neighbors are very friendly and I hope they don't mind; but if they do so sorry.

The snow plows and snow contractors were out all last night. The snow plows came around 10:30, I live on a corner so that have to back up and it beeps everytime they do.

The house across the corner has a contractor that comes around 4 a.m. My problem is that the house is empty and he still comes at 4. We have a no contractor rule until 7. I should complain because this guy is really loud but I'm moving soon so the other neighbors can complain if it bothers them.

At 5:30 the crews came to clear the school that is one street over. They also plow the sidewalks because we have lots of walkers, he was outside my house at 6.

I didn't get much sleep. I'm happy that we don't get a ton of snow here.

Wow I can't believe this went to page 2! I probably sounded a lot witchier about it than I felt, it was a minor vent and he was only out about half an hour--and he did our sidewalk too.
He goes to work at 9 (we know them pretty well) and there aren't any hills to slide down as I live in NW Ohio and it is flat as a pancake.
And the upside was, I had a 2 hour delay today, and he wasn't doing it when I went back to bed until 8AM!!!
Now I have to do our driveway before DD#1 leaves for school.

DH will use the snowblower late at night if we're supposed to get a whole lot of snow and then again in the morning. It just makes it easier instead of trying to do it all at once.

DH was also using the snow blower at 5:00 am today. Yes, it's early but that's what time he leaves for work and the crosswalk for the elementary school students is right at our driveway. If we don't shovel the drive and the sidewalks, then the kids are standing out there in 4 inches of snow and ice. He takes that responsibility very seriously.

Well, here in NJ, we got that snow, and by this morning, all of the sidewalks were clear on their own - it's not below freezing. Call us old-fashioned, but we use shovels. There are other options besides late night snowblowers.

I work in Boston, but live on Cape Cod, so I regularly get up at 5am and get ready for work. So what happened last year when we got a foot of snow? I was up at 3 am clearing off my drive, with my snowblower. Sorry if that irritates people, but I've got to get to work. And as others have already mentioned, if you don't clear it asap, it'll turn to ice.

Maybe he has to leave really early in the morning? Would you rather wake up to it at 6 am?

Mowing the lawn is more flexible. You have to blow out your driveway before you drive on it or you will have packed the snow down and have a mess.

This what I was going to say. Snow and grass need to be handled very differently.

Very true. I was only joking of course, my Grandma was from Brockport, NY so I've seen my share of snow.

I am sure he didn't feel like doing it that late at night either, would have probably perferred to be all cozy in the house, but as others have stated he probably didn't want it to freeze over and make it easier for himself to get going in the morning. People now days have all kinds of crazy schedules and do what they have to do.
That being said I probably am the curse of the neighborhood here since in the summer I try to mow my grass as early as possible to avoid the heat during the summer. (I live in Florida)
In the same sense, the people who complain about the noise of the snowblower or the grass being cut are probably the first ones to complain to the HOA that my grass is a 1/4 inch higher than is allowed, or the same people who would sue me if there was snow and ice on my sidewalk when they decided they wanted fresh donuts at the bakery at 4am and slipped on my sidewalk on the way to get them. The point is we are never happy unless everything is on "our" schedule.
Be happy that he does snowblow and doesn't leave it piled up all winter!

Same here..but my hubby leaves at 5:30. Sometimes he also gets called out in the middle of the night to plow.

Ahhh the joys of snow! after yet another snowfall and more on the way Thursday into Friday I am immune to the sound of snow blowers LOL .

But a bit more on topic (ok not really) I did laugh this morning when I opened the garage at 5:30AM to get the snowblower out and realized I was one of the last ones on the street to get started on clearing the driveway.

Funny thing about snow blower noise - it's one of those things that won't wake you up but it does keep you up. My husband went out last night around 8 after it had stopped snowing to use the snow blower. Our neighbor waited until 11.
This is the same neighbor who will routinely mow his lawn at 11pm because he doesn't like the sun and who lets his dogs out at 6:15 every morning to bark and howl for at least a half an hour.
Sometimes people are just being inconsiderate.

I understand OP. A minor vent can turn into a big flaming here. How nice of him to do that for you .

FWIW- my neighbor is a weirdo. And he's home at 3pm along with two teens who never help him. So I feel bad for the guy. I have no idea why he waits until that late, but hey to each to his own. I never even realized he did it until the baby. Sometimes I feel like gouging out the eyes of anyone who wakes my DD.

And the driveway is next to my bedroom. It's a lotttta fun!

What I dont get is she leaves at 8am for work. Let's assume she get's up at 7-ish...she was out there one night at 11.30 - no joke! 11.30!!!!!!

It's so true. I was in Southern CA, where up in the mountains they can get sometimes 2 INCHES of snow. The law there is that they have to put on CHAINS around the tires, or the state police can fine you. They actually will NOT let you drive on the roads through there without them, even if you have snow tires on, (which they probably can't recognise anyway. ) The have police checkpoints on the major highways. I felt like saying to an officer, if I was to drive through without them, "Come on, I have Yankee plates on my car & snow tires on. I've seen more snow in one storm than you will see in your whole lifetime. I can drive in the snow, whereas I've seen some of you Californians literally flip over cars in the rain."
