This is not a WWYD, this is just a vent since I can't vent to any neighbors.
I have a new puppy that I am trying to teach to leave my cats alone. I was outside yesterday with both when my neighbors dog ran out of their fenced yard into my yard, and chased my cat down my driveway into the road. the dog apparently sprained her foot chasing the cat.
This morning the neighbor came over to tell me she had to take the dog to the vet because of the sprained foot and it cost her $75. I said that is too bad can she (the dog) walk on it? She said yes, slowly but it cost her $75 to find out it wasn't broken. I jokingly said "What do you want me to pay 1/2? And she said "That would be fair"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!
the fence goes up tomorrow!

Her dog got hurt after it escaped from their fenced yard and she wants you to pay? Thanks for the laugh.

Tell her paying for 1/2 the cost of a fence would be fine too!

She has got to be kidding. Years ago a neighbors cat wandered in our yard and onto our back porch. When we let the dogs out they went nuts and cornered the cat. Thankfully DH was able to rescue the cat and get into the front yard. Our neighbors reply when we told him what happened to cat, was that will teach him not to wander into your yard.

Send her a bill for $300 for the cat psychologist your cat needed after her dog chased your cat-subtracting, of course, your half of the $75 :lmao:

Tell her she's lucky you didn't call the humane society for a dog running off leash LOL.

LOL...yes I like this idea!

Just realized, that your relationship with this neighbor will never be the same, which I am sure you are fine with. She has a set on her, upset that her dog got hurt on your property, because she couldn't contain her dog (property).

When/if she asks for 1/2, tell her you said it in jest, and why she thinks you should pay for her dog leaving her property and hurting itself? :confused3

Exactly! There is no way that I would give her a dime, and I have no idea why you would have even offered this. :confused3

Tell her you'll pay half of her bill if she pays all of your cats therapy bill since she is traumatized after being chased by her clumsy dog.

I think you're joking with us.

Why would you even offer up the suggestion of paying half?

She might have felt put on the spot. People have gotten away with things around me because I was in too much disbelief that it was actually happening.

Can she even prove when/how the dog got injured? Maybe it got injured in the process of escaping from her own yard? (I still wouldn't be paying anything, regardless. The dog was trespassing on your property.)

Asking a sarcastic question is not the same as offering. Offering would have been "I will pay half" not "what do want, me to pay half?" The OP hasn't offered anything - and shouldn't!

Exactly what I was going to say. Plus the fact that the cat was chased into the road & could have gotten killed if a car was coming, which traumatized YOU! :scared1:
