I'm sure I will get flamed for this, so I'll put on the retardant suit now :) I just want to say that I'm getting tired of reading all of the negative posts on here about the "free dining" crowds. Frankly, it is making me depressed about my upcomign trip in 11 days. I'm sure that Free Dining has raised crowd levels, but are you people realizing that it is still Summer Vacation!!!!! A lot of regions still have yet to go back (Northeast and at least Illinois and Wisconsin!) That is the reason. Please stop coming on here with gloom and doom stories. Like our parents always told us...if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. We cannot change our reservations now, so if you did not have a good time because of crowds, do not bring your negative energy on here. And that is all I have to say about that! :wave2:

Personally I find the crowd level reports helpful as I prepare for my vacation. While you probably cannot reschedule your vacation due to crowds (nor should you), you can make some plans in anticipation of high crowd levels. Large crowds can be an inconvenience, but they are certainly not going to destroy your vacation.

Have a great time!

I believe after Labor day and all the schools are opened, the crowds will thin out a lot. At least that's what I'm telling myself before I leave in a couple of weeks.

I completely agree that some of the reports can be helpful (and just re-read my post which I did not mean to sound so harsh), but do not appreciate some of the gloom and doom ones. I definitely have a set way of touring regardless of the posts, but do realize they are helpful to some people. Like I said, I dont' mind the ones offering advice, I mind the ones that don't step back and realize why there are large crowds, or send angry posts about crowds. Free dining has a little to do with it, but it is STILL summer vacation.

I'm leaving Friday morning and I say, "BRING the crowds!!!" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm not here to flame, but I do agree with LukenDC. "Gloom and doom" as some may seem, their reports help people to prepare for their upcoming trip. I'm going in 19 days...and I've never been during that time before. So I read up on the info I can...the good, the bad, and the ugly. It helps me to know what to expect.

Remember that everyone has a right to an opinion...even if you disagree with it. DIS isn't only about posting happy uplifting things. Sometimes people come on here to post real life experiences...even if that means posting negative experiences. But the great part is that we can take it and learn from it.

You are going to have a marvellous time, the crowrds will be thin, the weather great. (and to the nattering naybobs of negativism (and elitism) I say PHHHHHTTTTTT!!!!)

:cool1: Carpi Disney.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused too.. I mean, I know the crowds have been a bit bigger than normal since free dining started, but it's not as though mid-August was ever known for being a particularly slow period, has it?

I agree with the previous poster that crowd levels can be information that people want to know. Also, several people are used to going in August and this year they are noticing a difference in the crowds. I think it is reasonable to attribute this to free dining. It is not uncommon for people to come back and report what they have experienced. Also, I think they are also getting the word out that if people don't have ADR's, they probably won't get a table. The cs restaurants may also see increased crowds. This could be helpful for people who are getting ready to go to the world. It could help to offset disappointment if they know what to expect.

mKing624....I actually had people such as yourself in mind with this post. I have been in September and it is, in my opinion, the BEST time to go. The weather is fabulous, and little to no crowds. I understand that poepl are trying to help others, but for some newbies, it could increase needless anxiety about a first trip to the world.

Xxx xxxx xx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xx xxx xxxx. Xxx xxxxxx xxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx, xxx xx xxx xx xxxxxx xxx! Xxxxx xxxxx Disney xxxxxx xxxx xxxxxx xxxxx!

I x'd out all of the negative comments in my post.

Ha Ha! Just jokin! I think the posts regarding the crowds were just venting, and if anything trying to prepare folks for their upcoming trips. Be prepared and you'll have a great time! X or not. People are entitled to vent their frustrations, let them.

...or it could increase their ability to plan, knowing the current crowd levels! Knowledge is Power. And that's what the DIS boards are all about. How people providing knowledge about current park conditions = gloom and doom, I have no idea. :confused3

So people shouldn't post what you don't want to hear?

You know, it might be more effective to put your fingers in your ears and say, "Na-na-nah-I-can't-hear-you."

Or, just not opening the threads at all.

If coming here is causing you such stress, take a break. You are the one clicking on the link/favorite/bookmark to come here...that's not a dis but just the reality.

I hope you have a magical trip!

i like reading what everyon ehas to say. i don't care if it's negative or not. people are entitled to post about their vacations even if they were not so rosey. Usually they title their posts something like CROWDS DURING FREE DINING YIKES!! so just stay away from those posts and all will be good!! have fun! we're going too and i don't care if it's crowded or not and i don't care if i read about it. i'm just excited to spend another vacay in WDW!!! :yay:

Sorry for sounding ignorant, but I have simply not had the time to do the research on this but what is this "free" dining I am hearing about. Thanks for indulging me.

Negative posts are just as helpful as the positive ones. Some people on here get a bit tetchy when you criticise Disney (and on the Universal site too), but for people unfamiliar with the parks, dining, hotels and the like, criticism will certainly aid with some planning desicions. Plus if anyone who is in the employ of Disney or Universal happens to read the posts and takes note of the negative comments, it may effect some changes for the better.

I feel both perspectives have merit. There does appear to be some messages that are overstating the severity of the problem. By the same token, guests can benefit from accurate information which is in perspective to the actual severity of the problem. The objective should be to help guests enjoy their Disney vacation. Neither overstating nor understating the problem does that as well as "keeping it real" (dawg).

Free dining was a promotion that Disney ran from April until June. If you booked a package (paying rack rate...and you had to get at least a 1 day ticket) for a stay between August 13th and September 30th, you were given the Disney Dining Plan for free. You had to book the package by June 25th.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree with you. I know that alot of key factors have to do alot with the crowd levels. For me personally, those factors are :
1. Disney does the free dining promotion during the summer months when its crowd levels are crazy.
2. No school.
3. IT IS WALT DISNEY WORLD!!! One of the top vacation spots in the country and even the world for that matter.

I know when I put these factors into mind, my expectations are not high nor are they low.
