I am debating on the purchase of the

Princess Fantasy Dress-Up Trunk from Disney Direct currently on sale for $24.99 . "Our treasure trove of costumes includes skirts and tops with a cameo of her favorite princesses -- Cinderella, Snow White and Aurora. All stored in a beautiful box for hours of imaginative play! Hand wash in cool water. Line dry. Ages 3+. Box 6'' H x 13 1/2'' diameter. Costumes polyester. Box coated cardboard. Imported. Fits Girls 3-6X. Catalog/Online Only"

Can anyone tell me abaout the quality of these dresses?
Are they better than the Wal-mart dresses?
I am guessing they are not as high quality as Disney's $50 costumes?
Would they be big enough for my girl currently wearing size 5-6?
Would they stand up to a day in the parks?

Thanks for any input you can offer - my girl really wants a Princess Aurora dress (and Minnie Mouse) , and I am not having much luck.

Cathy,

My 4 year old daughter received this Princess Fantasy Dress-Up Trunk from Disney Direct and of all the costumes she has, these are the cheapest quality. They are two piece outfits that would probably fit your daughter, but I would recommend going with the Walmart/Target costumes. Of course, the expensive Disney costumes are the best.

Hope this helps!

Well, I bought DD8 the Princess Aurora Deluxe costume for Halloween. Thought she could wear it to CRT. She wore it to a BDay/Halloween party. Ripped out below the arms. Not that she was too rough, the fabric separated and frayed. I managed to stabilize the dress on both sides with some white muslin and stitched it back together. However, I spent almost $50.00 on it. She has gone on to wear it for 3 other parties, wears it for dress-up, and if it still fits, to CRT. By gum, we're going to get our money's worth!!

My point is that DD wore the dress for an afternoon and it needed repairs (rather major ones, too). I wouldn't think the trunk of dresses would hold up too well.

Disney costumes. These are the ones that come in a boxed set, with the two piece costume, plastic shoes, a plastic tiara, and a necklace. I think the trunk costumes will be about the same quality. They are one step lower than the Walmart costumes, which are one step lower than the Disney Store costumes, which are 1/2 step lower than the WDW costumes.

I purchased the deluxe dress up trunk for dd for our cruise and its poorly made. I was disappointed with the quality of the material. the skirts were see through also- so dd had to wear shorts underneath. she has several dresses from WDW and the disney store that are so much better in quality.

Thank you for your insight on these costumes. I thought these looked like they may be lacking in quality, am so glad I asked here first.

Looks like I may go the Wal-Mart route after all. We did buy her the Ariel a couple of years ago and it has held up better than I expected.

Thanks again,
Cathy

I bought my daughter the costume trunk a few years back and about the only thing the costumes are good for is dancing around the house. She wore 1 outside and it basically fell apart. If you are looking for good quality princess costumes at a very reasonable price, I would try Garden Ridge. I have bought several from there, including the one DD is going to wear to CRT ( a beautiful Tink costume). Hope this helps

I bought this for my daughter when Sears had them for $4.99 on thier website. She is 6 and it said they would fit up to size 6X. Well, they might have fit her several years ago. The dresses come in 2 pieces and she basically looks like she has a bikini top on lol Needless to say, i'm glad they were only 4.99 because I would've taken it back if it had been more. She does enjoy wearing them around the house, so we do get some use out of them!! princess:

Big Lots had a trunk like this for $19. I didn't think the quality looked very good, so I didn't buy it. WalMart had some small boxed sets of single outfits for around $14. I think the dresses were actually 2 pieces. i bought my DDS the $18 dresses instead. The 2 piece dresses may pack better, but I don't thik they'd last very long.

The best one's I've found so far (other than the Disney Deluxe) are the Target ones, they are in the toy department/dress up section/disney. DD4 has Cindy, Aurora and Snow White, they are $20 a piece and made of good quality. They all have really puffy tulle. We can't find Belle....she's always sold out.
