Hi everyone,
I was directed here from another board... We are family of 5. Kids are 12, 9 and 3. Tried to stay on site at Disney, but since my youngest is no longer an infant we need a suite and the prices are just too expensive for us. We are considering off site, but want something very close to the parks and very affordable as in under $100 per night. Someone had mentioned they found a three bedroom condo for $80 a night, but we really don't need something that large. We are fine with one room and sharing a bed for a few days. Our dates are February 7th -15th. We will be driving so transportation is taken care of, but still want to be within 10 minutes.

Any links or where to go from here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

3 BR condo or townhome might be more than you need, but chances are, it will cost less than a hotel. And you get a lot more for your $.

Windsor Hills has 2BR condos as well. I've stayed there, in February, and drive times ranged from 5 minutes to AK to 15-18 for Downtown Disney.

Look on windsorhillsrents.com or vrbo or homeaway.

Looking very quickly, The Springhill Suites in the Marriott Village is $93/nt for a studio with 2 queen beds and a sofabed (so sleeps 5). Their rooms are roomier than some others but would still be close quarters. We drove from there before and it was less than 10 minutes.

I haven't seen a windsor hills condo for less than $100/nt for a 2br in winter. I have seen quotes on bonnet creek in the low 80s, but I am not sure that you can get that for a feb vacation week.

I did see a couple hotels under that rate around on a quick look at expedia. You might want to look at the Holiday Inn friends and family thread and see if you can get a room at Orange Lake for your price point, as that would give you the most space for the price.

There are plenty of 2BR condos in WH for ~$100 per night on VRBO for Feb. I looked today. I didn't check windsorhillsrents but there are a lot more there.

As for Springhill, the $93 rate goes up to $135 for your last 3 nights. They do have free breakfast. $5/day to park.

here the link for the above

might check wyndham bonnet creek - there is a fan site here so look at it

there is not a hotel type that will allow 5 in the room - so you are looking at suites and sometimes a condo is cheaper.

here the site from this web
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/resort.htm

forgot - there is a downtown disney hotel - that I think allowed 5 in the room - when I was there - not sure now - there webpage does not say

here a discount on it

here there website

good luck!

We are staying at Windsor Hills because of it's proximity to WDW and the cost. The week that I am going, I have found 2&3 bedroom condos from $500 for the week. We are using www.vacationcentralflorida.com and all the communication & info has been great thus far.

Although that is more than you need having access to a kitchen & laundry ensuite may prove to be very nice for your family. Likewise, I have yet to be able to find a hotel for the same price.

What week are you staying? For my dates 2/8 - 2/15 for a 2 bedroom it was $700. And $88 more if I wanted to add an extra night. Still a bit steep for us but they are really nice! We would be fine with one room and sharing beds. We won't be there too often, but the thought of not having to spend a ton of money on food is a nice thing. we can eat breakfast before we go and have dinner when we get back. That will save us hundreds of dollars, so I guess its not a bad deal. I think I am just looking at the price and not thinking this all out....hmmm...

Check homeaway.com. It's like VRBO (pert of the same company, actually), but you can get your search results on a map, so you know exactly where it is right away.

A 3 bedroom may be more than you need, but it's going to be cheaper than a hotel room.

Mystic Dunes! It's a gated property located just past Windsor Hills. Keep your eye on Hotwire and do a little research. I got Mystic Dunes more than once for around $45/ nt.- free parking and no resort fees and ended up with a huge 2br.

Windsor Hills, Silver Lake and Emerald Isle are also nearby.

We are staying Nov 30-Dec 7, although we are looking at switching to Nov 16-23. The rates both of those weeks are right about $500.

I am getting a quote of $220 per night for Mystic Dunes!:confused3 It is telling me I need a two room villa because of my family of 5. Hotwire won't give me names of hotels or anything until I book it. I like to see what I am getting before I do that.

I spoke to the owner of Windsor HIlls and they won't let me do anything but Saturday-saturday, so no extra day for us afterall there. I ahve to look at the Emerald Isle a little closer as I am not seeing too much there that is close enough.

Thanks for your help!

Have stayed at WH and had a pretty good experience in a rental townhome. This time we are trying EI.

My sister has stayed at Buena Vista Suites (one-bedroom) for under $100 per night and that included transportation to the parks (but not always convienient) and a free breakfast...

I'd check the mousesavers website for more info and I think she may offer a special code for that particular hotel.

But, honestly, I'd say go with a condo/townhome in WH. It's a great community and lots of folks have rentals there. Check VRBO, I'm sure some owners will work with you on your desired dates.

Best of luck! It will be a great trip!

Crestwyn Bay is right beside (for real) Windsor Hills and is almost always much cheaper.

I had to rule it out because they're all 2 story townhomes and I need a single floor.

You can search for them on VRBO as well.

I forgot the 'd'.

couple of points: check the cleaning fee. Many places will wave it for stays of 7Days+.
Also, inquire inquire! it's not as in-demand as Windsor Hills so the owners may be more likely to deal. Especially in an off season.

This past June we used homeaway.com and found a 3 bedroom 3 bath townhouse in Crestwynd Bay. Total for the week was just under $600 It is about 2 miles to Disney. It is rental # p266415. The picture ad for the house has Mickey on it. The owner has 2 properties in Crestwynd Bay - both are decorated the same. We used the kitchen more than I thought we would and it was nice not to have to fight over 1 bathroom as the unit has 3. Hoping to rent from her again in March. Good Luck! :goodvibes

Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, homeward suites by hilton Hawthorne Suites. I know all these hotels sleeps 5 or more. We is a family of 5 too. Also these come with a free breakfast. Don't forget by Druey Inn and Suites too.

Residence Inn, we have stayed there last December. I really like this place. It's close to Disney and it's just a little further than Downtown Disney. You can get two bedroom suites as 2 queens in one bedroom and say a king in another bedroom. There are suites with a king and two twins. Both rooms have a sofabed. There will be a kitchen and living room. These suites are very roomy. It feels like a mini apartment. You get a full hot, breakfast which lasts us all day; we do load up on the included food. There is an evening reception 3 times during the week and we were able to make a meal of it. It wasn't just appetizers. I believe the hours for it were like 5pm to 7pm. These rooms will range from $125 to $150/night. The hotel provides transportation to Epcot. Then, from Epcot you catch other Disney transportation to go to the other parks. You save the $15 Disney parking fee each day this way. We did not use this service; because, we used our car. We had handicap circumstances. The place has a decent outside pool. You can get Disney park tickets at this resort; they have a rep there. We had nothing to complain about here. You have the ability here to get groceries and make your own food and save on dining expenses. Also, if you are willing to use restaurant.com for meals you can save that way, too and not cook. In our case I booked and then rebooked. I always check rates and I was able to save $20/ night as we we got closer to our dates. This is all dependent on capacity levels of the resorts and what deals they will offer say 30 days out or even 14 days out.

There is a resort which will run about $75/ night that will provide two double beds and a roll away in the same room near the same area. Overall, it doesn't get the best reviews. You can find cheaper, but........

Another consideration is getting a resort where you have two resort rooms with adjoining doors between them. You may be able to pick up these types of rooms for $60/ night. You would have to pay for two rooms, here.

If you have AAA or other travel cards you can usually get 10 percent off from a lot of the resorts.
