Needing a name for our poodle

I have really been trying to come up with a name for our new poodle.

A little background: We had two poodles, the female named Dina and the male, I named Winnie the Poodle. Winnie was hit by a car about two months ago and now we have another poodle, but it has been hard for me to come up with a name.

My wife wants to call him Winnie Jr. or Junior, but I really do not care for it. I guess in my heart there will only be one Winnie the Poodle. Usually I can come up with names with no problem, but I guess this one is going to be an emotional hurdle for me.

I would like to have a Disney name, and the poodle is a boy, so I knew that I could come here and hopefully get a few ideas. I have kinda run through the common list of Disney names but nothing has really stood out. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi. sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. we also have two poodles. the male is black and named stormy, the female is off white with a carmel streak called sunshine. the first disney name that came to my mind for a black poodle was maxx-goofy's son's name. I don't know why but maxx & dina sounds pretty cool. I hope you come up with a name that both you & your wife will love. good luck

How about curly? ha ha....

My friends have a female black lab and her young children named it...
"fluffy"... :rotfl: Its so funny because it is NOT fluffy! short hair, etc

I am so sorry that this happened to you all. The death of a much-loved pet is such great loss.

We have a black standard poodle named Lord Poppington or "Poppy" for short. He is about a year old and he is a absolutely hilarious. You can look at him and be pretty sure, by the expression on his face, that he is up to NO GOOD!!! (I do believe that he gets a gleam in his eyes, when he is just thinking about getting into trouble.)

Keeping in the theme of Winnie the Poodle, but not actually re-using the same name..... What if you called him "Bear" ie. Christopher Robin tells Winnie the Pooh, "You silly ole bear"?

Let us know what you decide to call him.

How about Tigger, Jiminy, Pinocchio, Chip or Dale? We had two fish once named Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb....

Congrats on the new dog. We have 2 poodles Raleigh & Piper, doesn't help you though, lol. Hmmmm how about Basil (great mouse detective), Bernard (the rescuers), Gus (Cinderella), Ghepetto (sp?) Jimney (pinnochio) if you want to keep in the WtheP theme maybe Tigger or heffelump, that would be funny. :rotfl:

How about staying with the "pooh" theme... Eyore, Tigger, Christopher Robin, Owl, Rabbit, Piglet, Roo, Kanga.

Thank you to all who replied with ideas for a name. After I posted here, I saw that this was more for travel info and I realized that I should have posted in the community section, but we have chosen a name.

I, along with my wife decided to call him Bear. Thank you razamataz for the idea. It is perfect because Bear will have his own unique name and we can still have a reference to Winnie. Of course when I told my youngest, she didn't like it even after explaining the meaning behind it. She wanted to call him Silly Bear. Then after she was holding him and calling him by his new name, she stated that bear was good. I explained to her that she could call him Silly Ole Bear when she calls him if she wants, it fits because we even have a nickname for the kids other than their first name. Winnie was actually named Winnie the Poodle, we just called him Winnie, so this really, really worked for us.

Not to be offensive to anyone, but after deciding the name I realized that the initials are SOB, and thought that sounded funny. I can hear me saying " Look what SOB did on the floor," of course we do not curse and I only mentioned it because I thought it to be funny.

Thanks again for all of the ideas.

God Bless!

We had a few poodles when I was growing up....2 Suzette's, one Brandy, one FiFi (mom thought it was cute)

Aww!!!! That made my day!!! :goodvibes

Although, I must admit that SOB never crossed my mind. That was pretty funny. Sometimes, I tempted use that same abbreviation for our dog, and that does NOT even remotely come close his name. :rotfl2:

Congrats on your new dog. We have an 11 year old beagle and are thinking about getting a puppy to entertain her and the kids. We just can't decide what breed we want. I thought of a good name for a poodle with a Disney tie-in if anyone else needs a name. Name it after the restaurant-Spoodle!!! :rotfl:

That is a good one. Although I have never been there, I may have to check it out on our next trip.

How about Pierre?

Not Disney related, but it works for a poodle don't you think? :teeth:

There's a bird in the Tiki room named Pierre. I just got a Schnoodle. One of the suggestions on another thread was Tiki. I ended up naming mine Lilly after Walt's wife or the Empress Lilly.

Our dalmation was named Belle. She was born on the 4th of July. I just thought I was add that name in case it was a boy...
