We are a family of 5 and will require a suite, which I don't want to shell out the money for, or get 2 rooms. We would have to have connecting rooms. What is the likelihood of getting connecting rooms?

from what I have been told by the CM's:

It is based on the ages of your kids. If they are young then you will get a connecting room. If they are older and can stay alone then it is a maybe you will get one. We always get one since my kids are all under 7.

Connecting rooms is a request, not a guarantee (despite any wording that might appear on your reservation confirmation).

Check in EARLY, and indicate your willingness to wait for connecting rooms to become available, however, even then it's not guaranteed.

Travel with only one adult, and four children between three and seventeen. Still not guaranteed but more likely (since one or more of those children would otherwise have to be in a room without an adult).

Book a room at Port Orleans Riverside - the Alligator Bayou section sleeps five, but one should be relatively small, to fit in comfortably in the trundle bed.

Book a room at a Deluxe resort that holds five people.

Book a Family Suite at the All Star Music resort.

Pretty good as long as you book early and make it your only request.

FWIW at ASmu they have the Family suites for about same price as two rooms and that would gurantee being together. We are a family of 4 but have wanted two rooms since the kids got a little bigger.

Of course, no request is guaranteed.
I agree with the above suggestion to make sure that it is your ONLY request.---generally they try to meet as many as possible, only having one will increase your chances. We always request a connecting room and have always been able to get one without a problem. Make sure it's noted on your reservation ahead of time and reqeust it again when you check in. Also, be sure you request connecting, not adjoining...there is a difference.
