I must have been posting when you were!!! Read the end of the origional post for my not so good directions to the pic!!!! Unfortunetly I think the opinions were very correct!!!
We stayed there last year for my daughter's birthday and the tree was a definate highlight. This year's picture is proof that the tree is MUCH smaller and not as beautiful. Hopefully this was the only cutback in decorations.
Okay, after seeing the new tree I would have to agree with the vast number of people. The tree is really bad! I can't believe that they changed it. What a complete let down. bring back the old tree. The new tree is not the type of tree that should be displayed at the GF.
I've never seen the GF Christmas tree before, and I have to say that if I walked in today and saw the tree that is there now, I would probably think it was absolutely lovely. However, by looking at the two pictures, I can see why those of you who saw last year's tree would be disappointed by this year's.
At any rate, I wonder why they made such a big change.
....oooh, I noticed that in the background of this year's tree, you can see the GINGERBREAD house is set up!
You can certainly see a difference in the Christmas Tree in the pictures between this year and last year.
Those yellow lights don't help much. Hopefully it looks better in person. I also think that if you didn't have anything to compare it with, you would think it was "grand". However, the side by side comparison makes the old tree the clear winner.
I have to agree with Carol. It is still bigger than My tree also. We saw it while we were there last week and we thought it was Beautiful as always in its own way. At least this year you can see it is a tree because you can actually see green. I think adding thousands more lights just cheapens a tree. I think it is good that it not the same thing over and over again because it then gets old real quick. If they change the look of the tree every year that is what helps make that year different than previous years.
According to friends that work at Disney, the new tree has a more antique look to it, hence the lights. While the tree is smaller it is more tree like and less articfical looking.
The size is also more user friendly in allowing more walking room in the lobby near it.
Last year's tree was lovely! I crawled around under it to see how it was constructed, and it was bolted together in sections about 5 ft. tall and about 4 feet wide, and the branches and lights and ornaments were wired onto the frame. Each section plugged into the next section, and they were all numbered. Since the tree merely had to be unbolted and then stored in sections, I can only conclude that this was deliberate. I just don't understand why; I guess I will have to see it in person. Maybe it photographed poorly due to the yellowish lights...
