Announcing a pregnancy . Don't know if I am or not yet (won't find out until next week). I know, I'm getting ahead of myself. But I've been trying to come up with some creative ways to announce it on Christmas if it turns out I am. DH and I have been trying for baby #2 and believe we did it.

Figured my fellow DISers might be able to help me out on this one. Anyone out there have any ideas ?

I had a baby 7 months ago and I know the excitement of telling people. I just told everyone over the phone when my DH and I found out. Creative ideas,,hmmm......Write in a card saying you're pregnant and then wrap it in a box and have someone open it. Make a homemade Christmas ornament with the message on it? Bake a Christmas cake with the message on it??? I know, those are really corny ideas. :rotfl2:

How about a Baby's First Christmas ornament and put 2007 on there.

My friend just announced that she is having a baby. She sent everyone an email wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and then went on to say that she was hosting her first Tgiving and the turkey was not the only thing going to be in the oven. She then went on to state her due date...

Congrats! All the best!

Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming! We won't know for sure until next week, but I thought it would be a nice surprise for the grandparents on Christmas day if we are expecting #2. If I got pregnant last month, it would be easy to slip in a copy of the sonagram. Unfortunately, that's not an option.

DH told me this morning that he keeps hearing "twins" and I told him to bite his tongue :rotfl: I don't know if I can handle twins. Giving birth to our DS4 without medication was enough. I can't imagine trying to do it with 2 - with or without medication !

How about having your other child wearing a shirt that says "I'm going to be a big brother/sister"?

Best wishes for a positive :goodvibes

To announce DS#2 I sent everyone a photo of 14-month-old DS#1 wearing a "Big Brother" t-shirt.

If you're announcing it to grandparents, you could wrap up something like "I Love Grandma" and "I Love Grandpa" bibs. :)

When I found out I was pg with the first one, I made pictures frames for the grandparents. I bought simple wood frames and plain white mats. On the mats I stamped some baby things. I wrapped them up and gave them to them for Thanksgiving. In the picture opening I put "picture coming July 98".

That sounds like a great idea! Thanks!

It wasn't Christmas, but here's what we did to announce DD#2: We had a family dinner and served baby back ribs, baby corn, baby carrots and baby peas among other things. They got the clue and a good meal!

If we had a pregnancy to announce at Christmas, it would probably be in our "sucker package" of the year. Every year, one person gets a big box to open that is actually many multiple layers of wrapped boxes (think like nesting cups) that ultimately culminates in a gift card or something similar. You could put a note in the final package saying the biggest gift of all is currently with you but it won't be making its arrival until the baby's due date.
