DH and I will be making our 2nd trip to WDW in January (7 nights on the 2008 dining plan) and need some dining advice. Previously we have eaten at:
Liberty Tree Tavern
Crystal Palace (B)
Boma
Spoodles
Le Cellier
Donald's B-fast
Kona (D)
Mitsukosi Tepanyaki.

I told my DH that we could only do 2 repeats because I wanted to try something new so we have ADR's for Spoodles and Le Cellier. Our other ADR's are for: Ohana (B, out of pocket), Ohana (D), Chefs de France, Coral Reef, Cape May Cafe (D), and Chef Mickey's (B).

Well, we are having second thoughts about Ohana for dinner because of the bad reviews and the dessert does not appeal to me (that is very important). Also Chefs de France has yet to be added to the dining plan so we might cancel that one.

Anyway, do you have any dinner suggestions to replace the two restaurants? We are really not wanting to eat at a restaurant that requires 2TS credits, but if you really feel we must then please let me know. I would love to eat at 50's Primetime or Tony's but they will both be closed while we are there .

I truly appreciate your help! Thank you!

If you want the best hamburger of your entire life, go to Beaches & Cream at
the Beach Club resort. OMG it's so good. :thumbsup2

I would NEVER give up Ohanas without experiencing it yourself. It is AMAZING food and so much fun. Then you can decide if it continues to make your list the next trip:thumbsup2 I'll throw out some others that we've grown to love: Tonys, Mama Melrose, Sci Fi, Biergarten, and The Plaza (great ruebens and ice cream treats). We're trying The Brown Derby, Yak and Yeti (hopefully) and TRex (again, hopefully), this June.:woohoo:

Get ready, because you'll get many varying opinions on where you should eat (due to everyone's different tastes/experiences). Here's my .02 worth:

Biergarten
Restaurant Marrakesh
Rose & Crown
Ohana (agree with other poster . . . try dinner for yourself)

Whispering Canyon Cafe used to be pretty good, but I've heard that lately the quality of food has gone down. Maybe someone else can give you better info. If it is still decent, and dessert is important to you, it's hard to beat the bottomless milkshake. :drinking1

Honestly, I would not choose a restaurant soley on what is said here. You really have little idea if the people have the same tastes as you. My family loves Biergarten and it gets slamed a lot here.

I don't know if you had Kona for BF or dinner in the past, but it may be worth trading Ohana BF for Kona. Unless you are going for the characters at Ohana.

1900 Park Fare is our family favorite.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is a lot of fun, and can be worth it for the entertainment, and also that you can spend some time in the Wilderness Lodge lobby -- which is magnificent!

Thank you for your suggestions.

The bad reviews are not the main reason that I am considering dropping Ohana's. It is mainly because I LOVE CHOCOLATE and I do not like bananas. Dessert is a big deal to me!!

DZNEELVR - I had not thought about Mama Melrose. That is a possiblity.

I would love to go to WCC but I cannot convince my husband. The Great Hotels episode on the Travel Channel has scared him away from there. He thinks it will be too loud! Is it too loud?

Thanks again.

My favorite restaurant in WDW is not the favorite of many others. It's Mama Melrose's. I love that we can order anything on the menu any way we want it and they are always so happy to prepare it to order. I usually get the Seafood Diavola, but have them leave out all the other seafood except the shrimp. They always put in more shrimp than I can eat, plus I get it with the non-spicy marinara. DH says their steak is one of the best in all of WDW.

If you love chocolate, then you MUST try their chocolate cake. It's a small round individual cake filled with a warm chocolate cream center, sprinkled with powdered sugar and then drizzled with raspberry sauce and raspberries. That cake and a Dole Whip are the two desserts I dream of after we're home.

Ok, You activated my saliva glands!! Not only chocolate but powdered sugar - how could I go wrong?!? I am calling in the morning to add this to our ADR list.

Thank you, Thank you!!!
