Which of these rides would you say is the most mild? Space mountain, splash mountain, big thunder railroad? This is for someone who doesn't really do roller coasters anymore but wants to conquer the fear and ease into it. She can do Matterhorn bobsleds no problem.

I would say Splash Mountain, as it really isn't a roller coaster and you only need to "worry" about the drop at the end. ;)

But, really, if she can do the Matterhorn, both Space Mountain and Big Thunder should be fine. Big Thunder is pretty similar, no big drops, and it is VERY smooth. Space Mountain is in the dark, so you don't really know what's coming so that can be a plus (or a minus, depending on how you look at things)

I agree with bella. If she can do Matterhorn then she can do Big Thunder no problem. Matterhorn is more rocky and jittery than Big Thunder. Space mountain is probably the smoothest of those 3 track coasters. Splash mountain is it's own roller coaster in my opinion. It's a very calm and smooth ride but the big drop can be considered scary to some kids.

In my opinion :faint: BTMRR is a little too smooth now since the epic refurbishment.

I have an 8 y.o. DD who was slow to want to ride the bigger rides. She would rate BTMRR the easiest -- she loves it! Then Splash, which, while she doesn't love the drop at the end, she can tolerate and will ride willingly. Space Mtn is still not fun for her. She'll go on it if there's peer pressure (like same-age cousins with her who are all riding), but given a choice she'll skip it.

I would vote Splash. It has a lot of "down time" within the ride where you are riding on the log through animatronics and just floating by. The drops are obviously going to be scary but it's not intense for the entire duration of the rid.

I would say Big Thunder Mountain. I really don't do rollercoaster either. I did Space Mountain back in DW in 1992, loooong time again and thats the ONLY time I have been on it, in ANY park. I did Big Thunder Mountain in 2010 and Splash Mountain in 2013 in DL. I really didn't like Splash Mountain, I was basically dragged on it as I was overheating in the Cali sun and my friends thought it was the best way to cool down as we were in the area, lol... I enjoyed the theming and cooliness of being IN the ride, but I screeched and screeched on the way down.

As a non rollercoaster person, I would recommend trying both Radiator Springs and Indiana Jones. Both are track based fast rides, almost the same as rollercoasters but with non of the upside down loop the loops :)

I would say splash as well but BTMRR is a close second.
I don't really care for roller coasters all that much but I enjoy those two.

My non thrill rider kiddo says Big Thunder. 100%. He rode it over and over. When we tried Splash a few months ago, he was shaky and said never again...that drop is a doozy.

I'm surprised so many are saying Splash is the mildest of the three. Yes there are only a couple drops, but one is in darkness and the last one is the biggest drop in the park. Space, while not very fast is almost completely dark, so that adds to the thrill. BTMRR is easily(IMO) the mildest of the three. But I just asked both my kids, and they say that Splash is the least scary. Go figure!

DD6 LOVES Splash. I won't go on it. She also likes BTMRR. She won't do Matterhorn because she's afraid of the snowman. But she also loves Screamin'.

I hate roller coasters but I love Big Thunder. I would also love Space Mountain if it didn't give me motion sickness. I haven't been on Splash Mountain in years so I can't remember if the drops were that bad.

Just tell her that the snowman's growl is far worse than his bite. And in this case, because his snow baby is close by with her mama, he is acting that way so no one disturbs their safety and peace of mind. :)

My two daughters are pretty cautious with coasters, especially my 12 year old. They would both agree that BTMRR is the most mild of all of the coasters. They also like Space Mountain, but their anxiety goes up a bit when they get closer to the actual ride. My older daughter avoids Splash because of the big drop. I think she was relieved when it was closed this last week while we were there and didn't need to explain to her friends why she didn't want to go on it. Neither of them will do California Screamin'. But Big Thunder is definitely one of their favorites.

I'm not big on roller coasters, I'll ride Matterhorn, Space Mountain, and BTMRR. I, however, won't even entertain the idea of getting on Splash Mountain. That big drop is what gets me. BTMRR seems like the choice, it's smooth and no drops plus it isn't in the dark, not sure if the dark is an inconvenience.

BTMRR and Splash are both tame. However the drop at the end of Splash places it above BTMRR as well as the dark portions... Both are milder then the Matterhorn IMO.

On her first visit, my DD3 rode Splash three times in a row before she decided it was too much. There so much going on visually and with the music that she didn't even notice the drop at the end. While I've been a BTMRR fan since the age of 5, I would vote for Splash. Watch some YouTube "Point of View" ride throughs and every time you hit 40 mph in you car, ask your kid if that feels too fast.

i dont like coasters either, but was able to do a couple on our trip. i absolutely loved big thunder, splash was ok but the drop at the end terrified me, but my face in the picture was so funny i got over it and would do it again just for another picture lol couldnt build the courage to go on space. and chose not to go on the matterhorn because of how jerky it is, and didnt want to be out of commission for the rest of the day, my cousin came off of it with a huge bruise on her leg.

Splash definitely is the mildest since you only have one big drop. My cousin heard from a local that Space Mountain blows air at you to make you feel like you're moving faster than you are. Big Thunder is really not so bad, the drops are not very big. If she can do the Matterhorn she should be fine with any of those.
