Need your opinion

The other day, I was on ebay and placed a bid for a hard to find Snow White pin set from WDW. DH got most of the pins but could not find Doc or Grumpy. To make a long story short, I did not win the auction, but yesterday, I received an email from someone (through ebay's site) telling me that if I was still interested, she would be willing to sell me this pin set (for less than my bid was). I checked into her user name on ebay and she has never sold anything through them (no feedback). She seems genuine enough and said she needs to sell some of her extensive disney collection due to financial problems from an illness. She gave a 'real' name as well as a phone #. Do you think this would be a safe thing to do? If I paid her via paypal and something happened where I did not receive the pins, would they stand behind me?

I'm not sure that eBay would back you -- check with them on the eBay site -- seems to me that the person should be selling on eBay - not lurking about for losing bidders -- good luck -- coleen

Using eBay's e-mail system to initiate or complete transactions outside of eBay is a violation of their TOS. The seller currently doesn't have your e-mail (& won't unless you reply to them), their message was sent thru eBay. It may sound mean but I would forward that e-mail to eBay.

A different thought. I think if you pay via Paypal, you can opt for a $2.50 insurance for guarantee. I tend to be very trusting, so I probably would buy from her.

Another option is for her to place it on ebay to sale wirth a "Buy it now" price and let you know as soon as possible so you can watch for it and buy it.
