Does anyone know if any of the resturaunts take walk ups? We are staying in the Poly the first week of June and I've been trying to get a reservations for Kona Cafe. If I go to Kona around 5, do you think they will be able to fit us in?

We've never had a problem getting into Kona. However, we're not normally there in peak season. So, while I would think you would be okay, I might not have the best experience. Sorry! That doesn't really help at all, does it?

But..do make sure you have some of the press pot 100% Kona Coffee while you're there!!

We walked up to Kona at about 8:30 one night and they could take us. It's a toss up, because there is no way of knowing how crowded a restaurant will be on a given night. I'd say try, and if not, Captain Cooks is downstairs, and that's my personal favorite counter service.

Don't count on it! We tried to change our reservations just before arriving during off peak (end Feb/beginning march 2008) and the restaurants we wanted were all booked up. And we were just 2 adults and a 4 year old!

A little tip...
If you can't get into Kona, take a peek over at the Kona Sushi bar and see if there are any seats. In addition to very yummy sushi, you can also order right off the regular Kona Cafe menu! :thumbsup2

You have to sit at the "bar" vs regular tables, but you get waiter service and the atmosphere is actually kind of fun, being out in the open in that part of the Poly lobby.

We went there 3 times in December, always walked right up and sat down, and there were only ever a handful of other people there.

Good luck!

5pm. And we found the sushi to be really good - maybe 2nd only to the Cal. Grill. Not a huge selection, but well prepared and nicely presented. :thumbsup2

We have never had trouble walking up to the Kona Cafe.

Great tip about the Sushi Bar we will do that next time since one of my 6 yo twins also enjoys sushi :rotfl:!
