Hi.
First time poster here. I am not very good at romantic gestures. I've been with my high school sweetheart for almost 10 years (anniversary is 2/28). I plan on surprising her with a trip to Disneyland on the 28th and finally proposing. I have been searching for club 33 reservations but I'm a sheriff and our county has no hook ups nor do I know anybody.. So now I'm trying to find a way to surprise her with a wonderful proposal she deserves.. Any hopeless romantics out there that could help? Thank you in advance.. I'm a nervous wreck over here.. I just want to do this right!

Is there something Disney that is significant to you/her/both of you? I think that's what makes a proposal special. What's special at Disney in your lives together?

I was in Disneyland three days ago and saw a man propose to his girlfriend under the Aladdin show entrance. It made for a nice picture and she clearly was not expecting it.

Welcome to the boards! I once saw a picture of a couple on splash mountain. The guy held up a sign during the drop that said, "will you marry me?" the girl sat in front of him so she had no idea what was going on until they got the ride picture. Maybe not romantic, but super cute! Best of luck to you.

That's a really cute idea.

Outside Blue Bayou, there is a caricaturist. Once e seen a couple sitting there and the artist did a drawing of the guy proposing to the girl. He had a sign up on his board that said "shhhhh don't tell"

When the picture was finished he held it up for her to see and the guy pulled out a ring and dropped to his knee.

We saw this last July when we were in the park, it was a truely magical moment, she was so surprised.

Another place to get ideas is to checkout you tube, I saw some amazing proposal so on there. Truly great ideas. :) It will also help dispel the idea that you need something like Club 33 to make it special, some of the most basic ideas were magical.

Another idea would be to get the Fantasmic dessert package and propose to her there, between Fantasmic and the fireworks.

I bet if you let the CMs know when you check in that you're planning to propose, they'll go out of their way to make it special.

Another idea, take her into the Beast's Library at the Animation Academy, have her take the quiz to see what character she is, while she's doing that get down on one knee and propose, there's also a chair in there that is a great photo op, while she's taking the quiz find another person, explain what you're doing and ask if they will take a photo for you, tell your DGF that you want a photo with her in the chair, have her sit, you kneel and get the photo. :)

You really can't go wrong proposing anywhere at the Disneyland resort. The parks, hotels, Downtown Disney, would all make for a great spot. Depending on how intricate you want it to be, you could pre-plan something, or just wing it, proposing when the moment hits.

If you are a Sheriff, then you could enlist the help of Woody when he does a meet & greet, maybe even at the Horseshoe review if he and Jessie are there.

Another nice place might be at the GCH in front of the fireplace in the lobby, if you want something fairly out of the way and insular from the parks themselves.

How about making early reservations for Minnie & Friends character breakfast on a non- magic morning day. You would be let into the park early, and could propose in the middle of main street with no crowds around at all. Just let the CMs know, and a PhotoPass photographer would likely be available.

In the end, be sure to let the cast members know, if possible, and they will help with whatever you need.

..and Congrats!

Does not look like the OP has returned, may not be getting the answers he wanted or he got an invite to the club. Best of luck.

Someone else that was a first time poster has posted the same questions on the DCL and WDW boards as well...

Lets just hope they weren't wasting everyone's time and pretty much only looking for a reservation! But let's face it we all like go talk Disney so that's never a problem. Or hopefully someone read one of these great ideas and will one day preform them! My kids are still sooo young , but I'm sure planting the seed in their minds! Showing them the gardens at GCH,making sure to point out the wedding display window on the way to DTD to my dd!

That's so funny! I do that every time we pass it. "Ooooo honey, look at how pretty that dress is. Wouldn't that be wonderful."

Adding- my DH cringes. I know what he is thinking with 2 DDs = $.

LoL, that's brilliant :). I point out the wedding display window to my DBF on the way to DTD, but flat out asking "Can we do that?" and his answer is always, "We're never going to have enough money" :(

Awww... I don't know how old you are, but that's not necessarily true. When I was 25 I didn't think I'd ever have enough money either, but we do really well now. Of course, at this point though (we got married 2 years ago), we had the money, but wanted to do something big at home (we live in Seattle), rather than small at DL. Your tastes change over time. Priorities change.

nope I'm still here... sorry not the best poster. Thanks for all the great ideas.. I wanted it to be at Club 33 because it's always been our little dream to eat there but I'm seeing that there is plenty of places around the park that will be great as well. so keep the ideas coming and ill be sure to let you know how it turns out.

I hope you do fill us in -- we can't wait to hear how your proposal went!

My nephew proposed in the court of angels in New Orleans Square. He told us when he was going to propose, but we didn't go over there because we felt it was a private moment. I did see photos and I think that is a beautiful location. Usually not to crowded, and more private.

I also love the caricature idea and the splash idea. Good luck and I'm sure she will be thrilled with any way you decide to ask her. =)

My teen sons stumbled upon a marriage proposal in the Court of Angels a few years ago and were asked to help them document the moment by taking pictures. Maybe it was them. :goodvibes
