Need your help! Best restaurant for a steak NOT in a park

My dad is in the world next week for a conference and has a night open where he wants to go somewhere for a steak.

He'll have a rental car and is at CSR so driving to resorts isn't a problem.

He won't want too pricey, but likes a good steak.

Here are the places I know of where he could get a steak on property:

Concourse Steakhouse at CR
Shula's - Dolphin or Swan?
Yachtsman's Steakhouse - Yacht Club

He likes buffets, too, so I was thinking that if Prime Rib fit the bill, he could do:

Boma at AKL

I know 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's have prime rib, but being by himself, I don't think he will want to go to a character meal.

Is there anything on the Boardwalk that might work? He won't want to go to Flying Fish. What about Spoodles?

Thanks for the feedback!

I have been told many times by people on this board and off that the best steak in WDW is at Jiko (the filet). (AKL)

I'm a snooty steak lover, and only like filet myself, and i can't WAIT to try it myself.

The Yachtsman is also good for steak =)

We had many good steaks inside the parks, but never tried any outside at the resorts. However, one night when we were on the monorail we were riding with a CM who was just coming off duty. He said that the Concourse Steakhouse is the best 'resort steak.' He said any time anyone ever asks for his opinion on where to eat he always says Concourse. He mentioned something about the head chef being well known or something too. Again, I'm not sharing this opinion from personal experience, but the other CMs in the car with us all agreed with what he was saying. Good luck!

Of all of the options you list, my least favorite choice would be the Concourse Steakhouse at CR.

Shula's is excellent, but he has a number of places in the nation (so it is not completely unique to the WDW experience) -- but if you do not have a Shula's nearby where your dad lives, then go there.

Best choice is the Yachtsman -- ask for Oscar as your waiter.

Alternatively, try Artist Point at WL. Great Buffalo steak.

I absolutely LOVE Shula's - but I agree it's not a unique WDW experience since they have many locations throught the country. However, if he's never been and there isn't one near you - this would be a great choice!

I agree with both the filet at Jiko and the Yachtsman.

My non-theme park steak meals have been at

Yachtsman Steakhouse
Jiko
Artist Point (the buffalo steak!)

All were good, but I was pleasantly surprised by the buffalo steak.
I'd order it again!

Why wouldn't he do the Flying Fish? I had the best steak ever at WDW when I was there! Suprised the heck out of me. But they did promise that I would love it!

I also love the Buffalo Filet at Artist Point!
