Need Your Dining Thoughts

Would like some thoughts on where to take adavantage of the dining plan.

Went in 04 and wondering has any new restaraunts opened?

Last time we ate at the following: I put our thoughts with it too

Chef Mickeys - nothing that great
Hoop de Doo - lots of fun
CRT - a must for any little girls
Les Chefs de France - very good, DW loves escargot
Cape May Character breakfast - disappointed, DD got burned from steam
table trying to get a pancake and no one
really cared. Had to ask 2x's for ice to put
on it
Ohanas - nice we all enjoyed it
Bomas - not for us, spices were too over bearing and couldn't taste meal
Hollywood & Vine - fun, but nothing spectacular

We are going in June and will have the dining plan. We will go to CRT for sure and Les Chefs unless there is a better place where DW can get escargot. We will have 6 table service meals.

Where would you go & why?

I would definatley go to

Le Cellier - SO good.. and I loved the dungeon like atmosphere. Ice Wine is so Fantastic.

LTT - Felt like I was eating a home made meal... so good!!

50's Prime Time Cafe - Very fun atmosphere... food is ok.

I so want to try Hoop Dee Doo - have heard it is so much fun
Also I want to try WC - have heard the skillets are great as well as the environment.

Have fun chosing. I have so mnay places to pick from for our next trip it is almost so hard to decide.

Try ESPN Club on the Boardwalk for lunch. Yummy I can taste those nachos and fries.

Personally, CRT to us is "been there done that" thing. It's not worth it the second time, for both food and characters. The only selling point is location, and if you have been in there once, no need to go again.

Substitute it with Princess dining at Norway in World Showcase and 1900 Park Fare dinner at GF. Both have much better food choices and character interactions are MUCH better. The tables are not as crowded together and the princesses and characters take their times.

Teppanyaki would be entertaining with great food. Biergarten is also a lot of fun. And even though Hoop-Dee-Doo takes 2 TS, it is worth it.

Crystal Palace for breakfast!
I know Chef Mickey's has probably turned you off of character stuff, but please try the Crystal Palace (in the Magic Kingdom). It is SO much better than Chef Mickey's. You won't believe the difference. The restaurant is pretty, the staff is nice, the characters take a minute at the table, and the food is excellent.

I also like having counter service breakfast at the Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom. Yummy food, big portions. (That Donald's Breakfastosaurus makes Chef Mickey's look good.)

Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge has Hoop-Dee-Doo type food and is great fun!

Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom has Thanksgiving-type food in a colonial themed restaurant, and the characters all dress the part.

Stick with the Hoop-Dee-Doo. The Poly Luau is OK, but nowhere near as good.

lucincia-thanks for the tip on the CRT. I knew about the other 2 but had not really thought about them instead of CRT. I'll throw that out to my DD's and see how it goes. I'll look up the menus and show that to them too. Thanks for your help, I remember your name from an earlier thread you helped me with.

Lulu's Mom-Yes, the Hoop de Do is a lot of fun. We went last time and loved it. I got some great candid pictures of my DD's. Their faces told the whole story of what they thought. What is LTT? I know I know what it is but I'm not getting it right now. Brain lock. Can I do a fantasmic dinner at the 50's Prime Time cafe with the dining plan?

dixiedizfan-I've never heard of Teppanyaki, is it like a Benni Hana's? The Beirgarten sounds interesting. All of my girls will think I only want to go there for the , which they may be right but I don't need to tell them.

iliketoby-How would Crystal Palace compare with the 2 lucincia suggested?

The Whispering Canyon could be our reason to go to WL. The Liberty Tree just doesn't do it for us. That's it! LTT. Just call me Sherlock.

Crystal Palace is good too - good American buffet food and good character interaction. The place is bright, airy and cheerful (what else for Pooh and the gang).

My DW is telling me now she likes the Norway one better than 1900 PF. I am telling her that I like 1900 PF better than Norway. We're going to have an arm wrestling soon. As for kids, they liked them all

Yes you can do the Luau on the plan, but I believe it is 2 TS credits.
I second both Le Cellier - really good food, nice atmosphere and warm, friendly staff.
and Teppanyaki which is similar to a Beni Hana, but better I think. You sit at big tables for 8 (so you will seated with others if your party is less than 8) and there is a large grill in the center. The chef entertains as he cooks your order. This is my DH favorite.
We ate lunch at Morocco this October and we really liked it alot, Pretty restaurant, the food was good - my desert was to die for! and the staff are very nice. There is also music and a belly dancer entertaining at both lunch and dinner.
We enjoyed 'OHana very much and we will return. We were able to see both the Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes from our table. Neat and a nice surprise.
We ate at Yachtsmans Steakhouse this trip. Although it is a beautiful setting with great service, we were disappointed in our meals.

Hopefully-thanks for the Luau info, if it's 2 credits I don't think I want to do that as I think there are too many great places to eat for 1. I think OHana's will end up on our list. We do want to do the new breakfast with Stitch though, DD 13 is a major Stitch fan. We have a couple places like the Teppanyaki and we've been a few times so I think we'll pass. the Le Cellar sounds interesting.

lucincia-don't lose the arm wrestling match. I got to read your blog, very well done and sounds like you had a great trip.

We don't do Princesses (ds5), so 1900 Park Fare is by far our favorite breakfast. It ranks near the top of our best meals during our trip last week. We did Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's last November.

Lunch at Tusker House was terrific. I was amazed at the amount of food and the quality. And with MYW Dining, you HAVE to try the dessert. There are 3 of us and we got one of each. The Chocolate Cake and Carrot Cake were really good. The cheesecake was cheesecake, but still tasty.

Changes will have been made by the time of your trip, but we really enjoyed dinner at CRT. It was my birthday, the service was fantastic and we were headed to the Chirstmas Party.

Didn't have time for Le Cellier, but I would choose it every time if there weren't so many other places we wanted to try.

You asked about Biergarten, which is in Epcot's Germany. The food is buffet style, and they seat you at large tables of eight, so you'll most likely be seated next to another family (like they do in German beer halls). The best part about it is the oompah band that plays and entertains on a stage while you eat. My kids loooved it there, and can't wait to go back.
