Ok, you have $1400. or less to spend on 7 nights at Disney(hotel only), where would you stay????

My family vacationed last February at WDW. We stayed 6 nights at AKL Kidani Village. I rented points from a DVC member and the cost for our room was only $825. We love AKL, but we also like CSR. Check out all DVC rentals. You should be able to get a variety of resorts to choose from for $1400. Have fun planning your trip :)

Totally agree with renting points. But if you want a value resort specifically - I love AoA.

Need dates and number and ages of people.

$1400 is a big budget sometimes but won't get zip other times.

Depending on when you are going and whether you want to stay on property or off Groupon has some good deals. Right now they are offering Grand Villas and a few others. We have stayed at Grand Villas and Cypress Point which is across the street and enjoyed both. I see they are also offering Wingate and Global Resort homes. Living Social would be another site to check for deal getaways. For convenience staying on Disney is easiest and our home there is OKW. Have stayed at most the the others too throughout the years before we bought into DVC.

Add another to the point renting idea for DVC.
We rented Kidani Village in the summer of 2012 for a full week for $1,000.

Next would be to look at any Disney room only promos, then take a look at some of the hotel consolidators to find additional off. We have 7 nights at POFQ booked for $978 plus around $30 cash back through befrugal and cheaptickets.

There are just a few deluxe resorts that you would not be able to get for $1400.

Not sure if you wanted on or offsite...If onsite - I likely would rent points as pp's mentioned. You can do it within that budget.

If offsite - One of my favorite places that will be well BELOW your budget is Staybridge Suites Lake Buena Vista. It has:
AWESOME location
Clean pool and laundry area
great staff
Full, HOT breakfast included every morning (This is the part I like better than renting an offsite condo - it makes it feel like vacation to me to be able to just tell the kids to go eat downstairs and it's all done for us.), including eggs, sausage, cereals, waffles, muffins, juices, coffee.
Rooms have kitchen which work great for grabbing dinner on the way back to your room.
You can get a 1 bedroom for likely $99 per night and a 2 bedroom (great if you have kids) - for maybe $125 per night.

This is my preferred offsite location. Love it here.

Another thought: Swan/Dolphin. We stayed at the Beach Club on our most recent visit and I don't think I'll stay there again (beautiful but the location was the best thing for the money). So to get a similar location we're thinking of trying Swan/Dolphin next time. If you are big EPCOT fans, this might be a good choice. It should be in your budget too.

I also agree with renting DVC points, that is probably your most economical choice, however just remember that it is not a "hotel" stay. It will not include Mousekeeping and you most likely will not be able to cancel once you have paid for the reservation.

If you are not OK with that arrangement, I would look into the Dolphin/Swan. You would get on-property convenience. The only thing you would give up is DME (if you are flying in).

Are you looking at only onsite or would you consider off-site? You can possibly stay off-site for half of that.

Thank you all for the suggestions! We were hoping to stay on-site but are really thinking about giving off-site another chance too. I am looking into renting points :)

Onsite only? I'd stay at a value, because I'm not picky, I just want a place to take a shower and sleep. I don't care about the decor, a big bed, nice pools, extra amenities or anything as long as it's clean....I'm only in the room for a few hours.

I've always enjoyed my stays at Port Orleans-Riverside or French Quarter, especially if you're planning on spending time hanging out at your resort. Plenty to do to keep busy at the resorts and have great food courts. The boat to DTD is also a huge plus. I've stayed off-site just once and swore never again as it was just not the same experience for us.
The past few years we've usually rented DVC points and our favorite resort is by far, The Boardwalk. This place feels like our 'home', although others will tell you they have other favorite DVC resorts. We always stay off-season and have never spent more than $150(no taxes on DVC point ressies)a nite for a studio.

go during a discoutn time and stay at Port Orleans...or one of the other lovely mods..... less than 200 per night when the discounts are out.....
