I'm booked in WL Concierge for May 19-24th (I'll be there for the triathlon).
I'm taking my Mom and niece with me. While there, we are going to celebrate my Mom's 79th b-day.
Since I'm going to be concentrating on the event, I probably will only do the parks 1-2 days this time (and not kamikaze style). We may go to DtD or DQ or just take it easy, so I'll be at the resort more than on a usual WDW trip.

Here's my dilemma: I couldn't get any discount with the recent codes (none available). If I downgrade to a regular room, I could save over $1,000. But I did want this to be kind of a special trip. It'll be the 1st time for concierge and my Mom has never stayed on site before.

While saving the money would be nice, I don't mind spending it if it will be enhance the trip experience. Because Mom has some health problems, she won't go to the parks when I do and could spend some time in the concierge lounge or just enjoying the resort.

So.... should I keep the concierge level or downgrade (and maybe add the silver plan to the package???)
Decisions, decisions. They're killing me!!!

It sounds to me like you and your family would really have the time to enjoy the concierge lounge and its amenities on this trip. If the budget is really stretched and the financial savings is important, then you should give some though to downgrading. However, if you can "not miss" the extra money and don't think you will regret spending it, then I say go for concierge. It would be very nice to have the snacks available since your mom will likely be spending a good bit of time at the resort. Enjoy your trip!

I understand your dilemma. I stayed on the 7th floor in a WL Concierge room in August 2003 for a week. I liked the friendly staff and the always available food.

However, there is not a "real" lounge. The food is presented nicely on several tables overlooking the amazing lobby. There are also tables and chairs available for resting and conversation.

The 7th floor concierge rooms are the same size as the regular rooms but there are complimentary refrigerators in them.

Is the concierge worth the extra $1000? It depends on your priorities and flexibility. If you are going to be at the hotel more than the parks, you will probably enjoy the pampering. Also, if you have a need for more personal service, the concierge is again a good choice.

Overall, I think having a room anywhere in the WL is special. Good luck with your decision.

I would downgrade for $1,000 and pamper yourself by spending the money on other items.

I've stayed WL concierge twice and I don't think it will offer what you are looking for. As was already posted, there isn't a lounge and the food/drink offering during that day (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) aren't that great.

Also, I think every floor at the WL offers a seating area where you could relax with your mom.

Another option would be to downgrade and see if an upgrade to concierge is available at checkin (for $30 - $50/night). If not you still have the $1,000 to spend. If you get the upgrade, you have concierge plus the savings ($500??) to spend on goodies.

However, what ever you choose you will love the WL.

Well, this is a tough decision. We will also be there for the triathlon and we are staying on the concierge floor. We also could not get a code applied to the concierge room.

There is no real lounge but the food is plentiful and there are several tables and chairs to sit at that overlook the lobby. Will your Mother enjoy doing this?

We are staying concierge because we also won't be doing much while my DH is preparing for the race or on race day. I thought it would be nice just to relax on the concierge floor and grab a snack if we needed to. Of course, we could do this if we weren't staying concierge by just grabbing a snack in Roaring Forks.

$1,000 is a lot of money. I'm not sure I would switch to a plan. Will your Mother really use any wishes from the Silver plan without you? Or go to the parks without you? This may leave a lot of unused wishes.

Good luck with your decision.

When I called to add the Discount code to my reservations the CM said sorry not available...I said do you mind checking each day...it was the Saturday May 22 that didn't have the codes avaliable and blocked the reservations, so call back and see if any of the other nights are available. I was able to change my arrival date but I could have just paid Rack Rate for that one night.

Hope this helps.....

P.S. If the decide not to stay Concierge the room service is excellent.
