help, I've narrowed it down to these 2 resorts.
I have 3 boys ages 1,5, & 9.
Tell me which resort you like and why!!!!!!:bounce:
thank you, Diane
PS: your feedback will decide which one I end up choosing!

Hi With your 3 kids I would say the Polynesian simply because the rooms are bigger, you'll have more room to spread out and the transportation to MK is so easy. The pool with slide is good for their ages also with the zero entry for the little one. Both resorts are great areas to stay in. Good luck on choosing!! :)

Our family has stayed at both and enjoyed both. The Polynesian is great with the monorail access to MK.

BUT...our family prefers the Yacht Club. Our favorite park is EPCOT and we can walk or take the ferry there. (The same for MGM & The Boardwalk area)

When we went (May) MK was closing at 6 most nights. Then what? Get on a crowded bus with everyone else going to the parks that were still open? At the YC you are closest to the two parks that stay open the longest - EPCOT & MGM. You can also walk around the Boardwalk area at night.

Stormalong Bay is an AWESOME pool and all the kids love it! Your little ones will enjoy playing in the shallow sand-bottom area. For swimming they can also go down the kid-sized slide in the children's area.

The Polynesian pool only has one slide and the child has to be old enough to go on it. (no sitting on Mom or Dad's lap - you can do that at the YC pool) My 7 yo DS was old enough to go on it - my 3 yo DD wasn't.

Those are just a few of the things that mater to our family. Whichever one you choose, you are going to have a good time! :)

Are you renting a car and what time of year will you be going?

I love both of these Resorts and recently went back and forth about where to stay May 2003. But our kids are teens now and we have never stayed at the Yacht Club. We rent a car and eat off site often. But when the boys were little we always stayed at a monorail Resort if we could afford to and once we did we didn't want to stay anywhere else. With a one year old the monorail is a blessing for getting to and from the park for a quick nap or rest. But Stormalong Bay at the YC looks wonderful and if it's a pool (we're talking almost a water park here!) you want this is the place. But if my kids were as young as yours, I would pick the Poly. It's a wonderful Resort and in a great location to the Magic Kingdom. A quick jump on the monorail and you can go to Epcot, the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's or to have a great breakfast at the Grand Floridian's 1900 Park Fare. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice, it's just a matter of what your looking for. Good luck!

If you plan on staying a lot at your resort and enjoying it's amenities, then I'd recommend the YC. Their pool complex is VERY hard to beat and with yourkids ages they would LOVE it. If you're going to be spending a lot of time in the parks and just using your room for rests and sleeping, then it's a toss up in my opinion. The YC had a good location to Epcot and MGM, and the Poly had a good location to Epcot and MK. Basically I'd look at which parks you'll be frequenting more, then make your decision. I have a 17 month old and have taken him to WDW at 4months, 8 months and 14 months. The best thing for kids that age is having your room as close as possible. Since you'll be returning to your resort for afternoon naps, you want to be as close as possible and as convient as possible for a quick return. Now, I don't want to knock the Poly pool, it is a very nice complex, but just not in the same league as the YC. The other thing to consider is room size. The Poly rooms are around 420 sq feet, where the YC rooms are 381 sq ft. I did notice a big difference in the two rooms and definately felt more roomy at the Poly. Did this totally confuse you, since as I continue typing, I'm getting confused!!! I hope this helped a little bit!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I say the Polynesian:teeth: My three kids are close to yours in age. One thing to remember is that in the off season SAB closes early. I know a lot of people rave about SAB, but to me it was just to big to keep track of 3 young kids. I much prefer the zero-entry pool. I can sit in the water with my toddler while my 4 yr old plays in the sand. My 7 yr old loves the volcano slide. Plus I like the fact that the Polynesian is a resort by itself and it is one of the smallest resorts on property. Remember you can always take the monorail to the MK and Epcot. Like so many have stated before stay at a resort close to the park you will be spending most of your time at. The MK is our favorite park. It's nice to take the monorail or the boat to or from the park:D We stayed at the BWV's for the first time this summer and I realized we are not Epcot resort people quite yet (I'm sure once our kids get older we will want to stay in that area again). One thing that was nice was to go over to Epcot while dh was with the kids during naptime. On the other hand if you like to resort hop like I do, the Polynesian is in a great location to go visit the GF, CR and the WL if you want to eat or go shopping during naps:)
Pick your parks and decide if you like a tropical or nautical theme better. Have fun deciding :D

We have DS8,DD7, and DS2. Last year we stayed 4 nts at the GF then moved over to the YC for 4 nts. The kids absolutely loved SAB and it's location. We were faced with the same question again this year. The 7&8 yold wanted to go to YC because of SAB but the transportation is hard to beat at the Poly so our resolution........Stay at both!!!! 5 nts at the Poly first and 5 nts at the YC for the pool.

You asked which resort we liked best -- my answer is definitely Yacht Club. Our stay at the Polynesian was fine, but we find the YC to be much more luxurious and we like having close proximity to two parks instead of one. We also eat a lot of our meals in World Showcase, and it is much easier to get to EPCOT from YC than from the Poly. As everyone else has said, the pool also is a big plus. At YC, you have the shallow sandy pool and a small self-contained pool (with its own small slide) as well as the bigger pools and slide. We have never traveled to WDW with a child younger than almost 5, though, so the MK location might be worth doing poly. My 8-year-old would pick YC, though, if that helps -- he stayed there at age 6, 7 and 8.

Thanks so much for all your helpful thoughts. I am still unsure re: where to book. We stayed at the YC a few yrs ago- & loved it! But the Poly conceirge is about $45.00 less/night then the YC conc. I have never stayed at the Poly. JKW, I like your suggestion on splitting the resorts BUT the thought of repacking and unpacking for a family of 5 does not seem too appealing for me. We plan to go to Epcot and MK only. So maybe the Poly is the way to go. How is their pool? The SAB was awesome!
We stayed at the WL last year- we were not thrilled- the kids did not love the pool as much as SAB. I am wondering how the Poly pools compare.
OK, I am done rambling......Diane

If your kids didn't like the pool complex at WL, then I'd stay at the YC. Personally I prefer the WL pool complex to the Poly's. I think it's much nicer, except for no zero entry.

We were at the Poly in August with our 3 kids ages 7, 5 and 2. We stayed in GV conceirge. We requested 1st floor and the kids really enjoyed the patio and feeding the ducks. We have also stayed at the YC and prefer their pool but I think we enjoyed the Poly better overall. The conceirge was great and it was so convenient. The monorail is a big plus. You are a boat ride or monorail ride away from the MK and Epcot. Also, our 2 older kids really enjoyed the Neverland Club. In the afternoons, you can visit the Neverland Club and play for free as long as the parents are there. My husband enjoyed playing the video games with our son. You have access to a lot of restaurants since you are on the monorail and can hop over to the Contemporary or GF. Also, the Poly has some great restaurants. Good luck in making your decision.

I would say the Poly. We stayed there last year as a family of 5 and really appreciated the extra space in the rooms. My kids(17,9,2 1/2) loved the pool at the Poly and all 3 were able to use the slide without a problem. We also stayed at the BC and used SAB and my kids had no trouble tranferring to a different resort. Their favorite is the Poly. From the Poly you can use the monorail at the GCH or you can walk to the TTC and take the monorail to Epcot. To us it feels like a vacation within a vacation.

Before I saw the ages of your kids, I was going to say absolutely the YC. I have stayed at both the YC and the Poly, and much preferred the YC.

However ... considering the ages of your children, do you think you'll be spending most of your time at the MK? If so, maybe you *should* consider the Poly. It's so easy to get back and forth to the MK .. and to Epcot too, with the TTC right next door.

We've not experienced the new Volcano pool at the Poly yet but have seen it several times. My kid's will probably love it. I must say though if you are intending on spending most of your time at the MK and Epcot. I probably would choose the Poly for the convience of the monorail. Our plan in switching hotels partly thru our stay is we will do laundry while the kids and Dad are swimming the day before moving. As we are folding our clothes, they go right into the suitcase for the next day as to move to the next resort. This helps us get some pool time, alone time, and we don't need to take 11 days worth of clothing. I like to travel light with the 4 kids(DS2,DD7,DS8,and DH!!!!). Whatever choice you make I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves and the kids will have a great time.
