need your advice .... re: waitlist

Made ressie for thanksgiving 2004 at SSR and was wait listed 2 of the 4 days for a 2BR. Five adults and two children (DS 10 and DD (6)) plan on going.

What is your experience with wait lists? Given the holiday what do you think our chances will be? Is there any way I could determine how far down the list we are?

Just trying to gauge when and if we should make plane ressies; or cancel trip altogether. Thanks in advance for your help!!

I think there is a very good chance of the waitlist coming through for you. There is still a lot of time and since SSR is so new (and still selling), the developer will be adding more inventory for DVC members as more buy in. There were lots of waitlist success stories for BCV for that first year it was open and BCV is a lot smaller than SSR.

You also did the right thing by waitlisting for the days individually.

MS can't tell you how far down the waitlist you are - there's no easy way for them to tell.

Anyway, IMHO, it's too soon to cancel the trip. If it were me, I'd gamble on the waitlist working and go ahead and make plane reservations as soon as I found a good fare (or at least one that I could live with, LOL). THen, since I'm not a total risk taker, I'd also have a back up plan for the days I'm missing (OKW, maybe?) And then I'd worry and fret until the days came through!

I had waitlisted two days for my upcoming trip and got both days added. I got them one at a time and about three weeks apart, but got my whole trip the way wanted.

My experience....reserved studio at BWV for 11/25 to 12/1. Got to thinking it might be nice to check out VWL. So called MS. I could have gotten the days in the middle, the 27,28,29 at VWL. Decided to waitlist for the whole stay. Called yesterday and was told I could have right then and there the 30, 29, 28 at VWL and the 27, 26,25 at BWV. Okay...I can live with that. So, waitlisted the first 3 days. My dh says "Hey, that's almost like two mini-vacations. Let's keep it that way." So, I call MS this morning. Well....they have given me, automatically per my request, the 27, and 26 at VWL!! Nice surprise. So, now I'm waitlisted for just Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully someone will cancel and I can have it and not have to move after one night at BWV. My point?? Waitlisting does work, even during those crazy holiday times.
