Hi, Gary has time off after Xmas and we are trying to think of a nice little mini vacation. I really wanted to drive to WDW, but he only has a week this time. In the near future, I'd like to drive to WDW so I was thinking we should do a MINI long distance drive (around the 11 hour mark or less) as practice for the real thing! We live near Toronto, so WDW is about 24 hours in a car. I'd like south or southwest USA. Where can we go? I thought about Virginia Beach, but I've been reading it's dead that time of year. Mytle Beach is better, but it's 18 hours in a car, if I'm going to drive 18 hours, I might as well go for 24 and WDW. So what do you think? Where are we go? THANKS!

Hi Sandra:

Although it is only 4 to 5 hours away from the Toronto area.
We have gone to Frankenmueth, Michigan for shopping and the hotel we stay at is very similar to Wheels Inn in Chatham, the Bavarian Inn.
It has mini golf, five pools, video games, pool tables, play area for little ones, etc. all indoors. So during the day we shop at Birch Run, it is an outdoor outlet mall about 5 minutes from the hotel. At night we use the facilities in the hotel. The town restaurants are famous for their chicken dinners, a very delightful town.

Here is the link for their website:

Bye,
