My husband and I are celebrating our one year wedding anniversary this June at WDW. We are staying the weekend at POR. I've been working a lot of OT and it just covers our reservation.

However, I would like to do something special (we're passholders and go a lot, but my husband is not as "into it" as I am) that he'll be surprised about/remember. We are on a tight budget (bought a house 3 months ago).

Any ideas?

Go over to the Poly one evening and watch Wishes from the beach. There's hammocks there that you can lounge in. Maybe pick up a bottle of wine at the shop there. Dh and I did that the trip that we decided to get engaged. Only costs are for drinks or snacks if you want them.

Or they do carriage rides from PO. I think it's $35 for a half hour plus tip.

does your husband enjoy romantic walks with you?

then you are in the right place. walk around the resort during dusk and early evening. look for fountains, roses, butterfly garden, landscaping in general. this is a beautiful place.

take the boat ride to DD at night and walk around there.

the horse carriage is nice - you can order it at around dusk too.

Over at Downtown Disney, House of Blues. After they stop serving dinner in the resturant part, on Friday and Saturday nights, there is always a free band.
My wife and sometime get there for a late dinner and stay for the band, or sometime we just show up for the band and a drink before retiring for the night.

An evening walk over at the Boardwalk is also nice, even if it is kinda of crowded in June.

Sometimes we just take boat rides to other hotels and wander around to see where we might like to stay next time. The main pool area over at Old Key West is a nice place to check out.. Also does he play golf? If so, you could suggest going over to Osprey Ridge course just to check it out and get lunch. No matter how many there are there playing golf, the cafe is never crowded. And it doesn't look like it, but it is very good. The blackened chicken Cobb salads and the Grouper sandwiches are great. Everything is good.

If you decide to eat in Epcot,, for somewhat quiet, subdude lights and great food, not quite as expensive as some other places, try Canada's Le Cellier.

Of course my wife thinks one of the best things to do as a couple is to go Magic Kingdom's adventure land, ride the classics (Jungle boat and Pirates of the Carribean) and share a turkey leg with a Dole whip for dessert.
