This is a 3 bedroom/2 bath home that DH and I have looked at. We already own a home that is similar, but this home is in a neighborhood of homes within the same price range.

I liked it . . .it did need some things though (new deck, new pool, carpeting, etc.)

This house is listed as $375,000, realtor thinks we could get it for $325,000.

Wow, what a beautiful house! The housing market in your area must be really different than it is around here, if your realtor thinks you can get the house for 50 grand less than the asking price! In my area, houses are routinely sold for MORE than the asking price, because sellers usually have several offers to choose from after the first weekend the house is on the market!

I'm curious -- if your house is similar, why do you want to move? And if it's a "buyer's market" in your area, do you think you'd be able to get enough for your house to make it worth it?

Wow. I was thinking that it's a beautiful home, but $325,000-375,000 seems VERY high for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. I guess it all depends on where you live. I think that house (with all of the upgrades) would be more like $200,000-225,000 where I live!

I love the wrap around porch! It's beautiful.

Wish-I'm sitting here in sticker shock! That house is $375,000??? For $375 around here you could own a small mansion!

That house here would be maybe $200,000. What a difference!

It is beautiful. I wish I could find one just like it here! :)

to be from MI! WOW, homes like the one pictured are very common around here (although most are modulars or manufactured and not stick built) and priced way less than in your area! Whew. . .we would pay somewhere around mid to upper 100,000 area for a home like this! When we built our house, I wanted a two story "farmhouse" type place--husband wanted a ranch--guess what we built! :D Nice house and property though!

wow---talk about sticker shock....my parents are building virtually this EXACT house, with a bunch of upgrades and it's $230,000.
We HAVE this house, and when we built in 1990, it was $95,000....amazing how prices change huh???

The housing market here is absolutely outrageous . . .that same house 2 years ago would of been around $250,000.

There are different reasons of me wanting to move . . .

The biggest reason is I like change . . .I can't do anything more with my home . . .and I'm bored with it . . .(isn't that terrible?) The second reason would be because in my neighborhood there are no children my son's age (almost 10) for him to hang with. In that neighborhood there are a ton of kids his age . . .I guess I'm going back in my childhood where I spent several hours outside hanging out with my friends in the neighborhood . . .I always wanted the same for my kids . . .It's something I didn't realize or even think of when we bought this house in 1992.

My house is the biggest in the neighborhood because we added a 2nd floor 2 years ago . . .The bank recently did an appraisal and it came back with $315,000. (not too shabby) Since it is a seller's market and I would be able to get a ton of money for my house and the other house has been on the market without any offers since September I figured what the heck.

There are some reasons why noone wants this other house. It doesn't have a backyard so to speak . . .it has woods/open space. It has a huge front and side yard though (which is fine by me). Also, it doesn't have a 1st floor laundry or master bath (which I don't have now). And for that price, people do expect more. The prices in CT are terrible!

Oh, I LOVE that porch! :D

Real estate prices in NJ are unreal too!
The house looks very nice from the outside. If not having the master bath and the laundry room location are not things that bother you, than you should consider it. Especially, if the agent feels you could get it at a reduced price. I know around here, thats pretty much unheard of!

Am I the only one who doesn't see any picture? :( I wanna see! Though I have to say that price sounds REALLY expensive -- around here, a 3 bedroom would more likely go for the $150,000-$225000 range. Since I don't see any picture, I can't say anything specific about that house.

looks like one I had in Georgia, paid 99 for it, sold it 3 years later for 99, and it sold again 3years ago for 105. Not much movement in the market there. We don't have houses that look like that on the outside here, most are stucco, and that would be considered a HUGE yard, but it would go for less thn 200 here, at the most.

But to answer your question, if it has what you like, and you can sell yours, and you are willing to pay capital gains taxes (selling for more thatn what you are rebuying), go for it.

Nice looking house. In my neighborhood, that house, with that amount of property would be in excess of $800,000. I say go for it.

Thanks for reminding me AGAIN why I can't afford to live in Westchester! :p

Looks like a great house.

that can't see it..I was sitting here wondering what picture you were all talking about..please repost it so we can see?
