Need Waitlist experts

Friends and I are going down for our usual week long October trip (10/27 thru 11/05). We usually stay at OKW but since it's my year to make the reservations decided to stay at my "home," BWV. I've got my 2br all set up.

Today, one of my friends' relatives called and said they'd like to join us (they had a lot of fun with us last year). My friends are also DVC owners and called to see if a 2BR was available at BWV or BCV for 10/26 thru 10/30 and, of course, nothing is available (anywhere except for OKW & SSR).

So I said I would ask the waitlist experts. Is it better to waitlist for a studio and a 1BR separately or does she have a better chance at the 2BR? She's not concerned if the 1BR and studio are close to each other (she just wants them in the same resort as we are).

I think you would have a better chance with the 2BR. Some of the 2 BR are dedicated, but some are 1BR and studio lock out. So, if they are just looking for a 1BR and a studio, that cuts out the rooms that are dedicated 2BR's. Does that sound right?

Unfortunately, BWV have no dedicated 2BR. They are all lock offs.

If it were me, I'd W/L for both the 2-BR and the 1-BR plus studio...I'd also consider adding BCV to the BWV W/L request...BCV is not the same resort, but it's in the same "complex" and would be almost as good...but that of course is up to them and you!

I did something similar last T-giving...decided I'd take either a studio or a 1-BR at any resort...the first W/L came through as a 1-BR at SSR; then a studio at OKW came through after that, so we gave up the 1-BR and took the studio...after that, the studio at SSR came through..since we'd already booked the first 3 days of our week in a studio at SSR, we "grabbed" the SSR studio when it came in and gave up the OKW studio...

Bottom line, if your friends are patient & flexible, they can W/L for mutiple possibilities and decide each time whether to take what comes through and whether to remain on W/Ls to see if anything "better" comes through later...

The W/L can be nerve-wracking, but for us it has been phenomenal...I've used it 5 times and only once has my W/L request not come through...
