I'm thinking about experimenting with vinyl on the cricut. For those of you that have worked with vinyl, could you share your tips? Can you cut it with the regular blade or do you need the deep cut blade & housing? Do you have to use the cricut vinyl or is there another (cheaper) kind that works well? I would love to make some decals for my car and if they turn out well, for the whole baseball team. Any advice would be appreciated-TIA!:)

I use my regular blade when I cut vinyl. I use cricut vinyl but I do know others who use "cheaper" vinyl and they use the same blade. I don't know what the "other" vinyl is called or where they get it so I can't help with that.

Can you use the stuff they use to make wall decals - you know where it won't ruin the wall? I really want to make names for my kid's rooms.

If so, where can you get it?

I use the vinyl and got mine from Oh My Crafts. Put it in on my Kitchen Wall and love it. On an arch, I put our last name and est. 2002. I also used the transfer paper from them to put it on the wall. It was really easy and the transfer paper ir reusable. One tip that I can think of was the kiss the vinyl with the blade, use a low pressure and low blade depth to cut the vinyl. I believe I used 3 for both. It makes it easier to use the transfer paper to pict the image up to transfer to the wall, glass, etc...

Some people I know use the outdoor vinyl for their cars. They get it from hhsupplysigns.com. I personally haven't used it yet. Check youtube for video how to as well.

Have fun!
