Hey all

I need some serious help deciding on which Value I want to be at this Sept!

It is between Pop & All Star Sports :upsidedow I have stayed at both. It has been a LONG time since I have been at the All-Star resorts.

I lean towards Pop, but after looking at the pictures I know my 2 year old would love Sports b/c he is OBSESSED with balls!!! :rotfl:

I know Pop has their own 'desiginated' bus system, but I have heard once Art opens it will share with them for a little while.

Does anyone know if Sports has been refurbished recently?? That would definitely help to make my decision

ANY info would be helpful! I know there are a lot of Disney savvy peeps on this board!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

TIA!!

I think they were both renovated sometime around 2008.

We love both also. We went to ASSports because we have a little boy too. I wasn't expecting much and was very pleased and pleasantly surprised. I'm a big Pop fan, but All Star Sports really wowed me! The staff was great - they gave my son a balloon every day. The housekeeping staff was very friendly. We had a room change and they bent over backward to accommodate us even giving us 2 activated room keys so that we could change rooms when my son woke up from his nap (we had been placed near the bus stop and I'm a really light sleeper). I really liked the food-court. Bus service wasn't an issue because we always get a car.

I don't think you could go wrong either way.

Great! Thanks for the info!

VERY glad to hear!! :-)

Do you find that you drive more than taking the bus?? We do lots of times. Espcially now having a stroller in tow.

My one down side was thinking about stopping at all 3 All-stars with the bus. But if we drive much we won't have to do that either. And then if my friend was correct about Pop & Art sharing (which makes sense) then it's basically the same thing....

I don't think you could go wrong either way.

I know you are right, but of course you just want to make the 'PERFECT' decision! I'm so excited about this trip!! :yay:

I'm sure both would be great. We stayed at sports last time and movies the trip before that.

We never ran into shared buses at either. Biggest wait was returning to park at end of the day one time. Seems the bus broke down and they had to deal with those stranded on the broken down bus and get a back-up running. Disney handled it so well we never gave it another thought.

We loved sports which is odd as we are not sport fans. The main pool is massive and even when busy never felt crowded.

We are trying POP this fall.

Have fun...I'm sure you'll have a great trip whichever you choose.

I enjoyed Sports when we stayed there. I thought it would be least favorite but took it because that was the only one available. I really enjoyed the theming - better than Music next door, which I had thought I would really like.

And you're right - I too think it's likely Pop and Art will share a bus. Eventually, my understanding is that Art will have its own bus - but I will not be surprised if their buses are shared during construction.

I had the same debate you are having for my upcoming August trip. Ultimately, I decided to stay with Pop because:

- it's close to 2 parks, Epcot and DHS while Sports is only close to AK.
- I can check out Art - perhaps the two resorts will share pools?? If nothing else, I'm close enough to wander the resort. The theming looks incredible! I only wish they had extended the cool theming at Art to all the other value resorts instead of the current generic rooms everywhere. Love the direction they are going with the room theming - they should have done it from the start!
- Can use Art's food court. I'm pretty excited about the new offerings at Art - and it will be very cool to try out the new food.
- Sports also shares buses, so either way I am likely to deal with some bus sharing.

ASSp was rehabbed in 2007, Pop in 2010. Pop and AoA sharing buses is pure speculation. If saving a few bucks matters to you Pop is now more expensive than the All Stars by $5 per night.

I love both, but, depending on who I take depends on which one we stay at:)

I agree with this, ASSp wowed me as well! I was pleasantly surprised.

Ive stayed at both and I can honestly say I like both for different reasons. At Sports, we got towel animals every day. Each day the mousekeeper would position my sons stuffed animals in an amusing way. My son loved it. It was the only resort that did this on a daily basis. Its a great little resort, we both had fun. The pool is terrific too. I like the fact that its a smaller resort. Even if you dont have a preferred room, the walk to your room is short. And if buses do share, sports is picked up and dropped off first. I love that!

I gotta admit thou we do like Pop a bit better. Overall theme is wonderful and fun, the pool and the cafe are amazing, as are the buses! Its a bigger resort which is nice. The arcade is bigger and a lot of fun, you can actually redeem your tickets for prizes! Its our fave value resort.

Why not let your son pick which one he likes best???

We stayed at ASSp last spring and :lovestruc it! (My boys were 5 and 9). The pool was fun, Mousekeeping was fantastic, loved it all!

The two things I worried about turned out to be non-issues:
~Bus Service. I think we only shared busses with the other All Star Resorts once the week we were there, and even when you do share, ASSp is first on, first off.
~Large groups. There were many groups of high school kids, but they were incredibly well supervised and well behaved. One afternoon my little guy and I were at the pool and I had to take a quick work call so he sat at the edge of the pool with his feet in the water while I talked. The high school boys were tossing the ball around, and my Charlie would chase after it when it went out of the pool. It soon became apparent to me that they were intentionally overthrowing so he'd chase after it, calling him "little buddy". It was adorable. At one point when he threw the ball back he lost his balance and fell in -- suddenly there were about 7 guys rushing to help him out. Charlie still talks about that being one of his favorite parts of his trip. (And whenever they saw him for the rest of the week, they'd yell over "hey Little Buddy, can you hang out with us this afternoon?")

When we go back next spring I'm planning on staying at POFQ because I want a little more room, but I'm already worried we wont' love it at much as we loved ASSp.

I totally agree!! And I think it will work out either way! You just always want to make the right choice to be PERFECT!

Ok....Elaine, I think you might have just made up my mind!! ;) I am ALL about some food and seeing what's different where. This might be a VERY good thing!! :thumbsup2

So Pop was rehabbed more recently....another point for it!

I talked with a CM this morning that said she was told they wouldn't be sharing.....who knows!!

I love both, but, depending on who I take depends on which one we stay at:)

Goofy - I might try this! It will be interesting for sure :rotfl2:

As for your remarks about Pop....I agree! And is one reason why I'm stewing over this so much . I think I just need to flip a coin!!

Jen - I bet you guys had a good time!! :woohoo:

I can tell you a little about POFQ. My hubby and I stayed there in '07 and I LOVED it. But I decided we would stay at a value this time b/c I know the kids love it so much and it's cheaper!

I'm not trying to not stay there, but I do think with kids it could be better at another resort. The pool at POFQ is neat and it has a very cool slide that they like. But I think that might be the only upside :cool2:
