We are looking at buying a new van. Actually used, but you know, new to us. Anyway, I have found one that is listed at the dealership at $12,789 and when I look it up on KBB I am getting a retail price of $14500. So, the question becomes, would you dicker on the price? We have financing arranged already and are putting about $2500 down. The only place we have bought a used car before is from one of the those the price is the price places. We are looking at buying this week.

I know you gurus can help me.Thanks.

Same thing happened to us when we bought our current van. We did dicker a little bit and got about $500 off, but, since it already appeared to be a good deal, we didn't expect to get much off. We would have paid the asking price but were happy to get it a bit lower. We also got $400 or so off the price quoted for an extended warranty.

Good luck with you purchase.

Yes, I would, as Iknow there is ALWAYS some money built in be able to 'play with'. Good luck.
